@ianswansonen Wanton Walls, an eughteenth century C Listed building at Newhailes Court, near Musselburgh, is under threat of demolition by the developers.
@BBCShaunLey When describing Westminster Hall a few minutes ago you didn't mention the trial of Sir Thomas More in 1535. Of all those who invoked Magna Carta against Henry VIII, perhaps the most famous of all was its use by Sir Thomas More at his trial for high treason
@lisanandy Of course the UK is off kilter - because three of its parts have Devolution and one doesn't.
England thinks it is the UK - which of course it isn't.
@lisanandy In fact, it is Devolution that they are looking for - a new dispensation spread evenly across England without the imbalanced power nodes of Levelling up or the Northern Powerhouse.
@Fern_Britton My late Uncle once told me that he had spent his National Service in India in the Royal Engineers (?) with your father. Can you possibly confirm the Regiment and the approximate dates as I need tyhese to obtain my Uncle's service record?
@Miatsf Excellent article in The Guardian but what England needs is what Wales, Ireland and Scotland have - Devolution that is spread proprtionately over the whole country and not merely focussed on metropolitan hotspots. Surely this is what Brexit was all about?
@faisalislam The problem the Government is trying to solve is that Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland have geographically-comprehensive Devolved Government, but England doesn't. 'Levelling-up' is only benefitting large English cities and not rural areas - a piecemeal solution.
@BBCBreakfast Excellent article from Hugh Schofield on Murray Head but he didn't mention that MH once owned a hairdresser's in Musselburgh, East Lothian, where I often had my hair cut and I have not forgotten him!
@heartchitecture Where can I find a transcript of your review on βSacred Circuitry: Moveable Architecture in the Post-War Roman Catholic Churchβ, paper for conference, Sacred Spaces in Modern Britain, Twentieth Century Society, London, November 2013 ?
Where were the critics who could have stopped Johnson leading us to Covid tragedy? | Owen Jones https://t.co/5J4nC76OqA Excellent - but what about Covid exposing the absence of local accountability in a Devolution that England has never had?
