I was a weird kid. While most my peers were excited about the latest arcade games, I was totally into this new game genre called CRPGs, and particularly Ultimas.

Now I'm an even weirder adult because I chose to use my vast game industry experience to bring back the types of games that I loved as a kid. Types of games that have not been made in over 30 years! Memorable CRPGs that come in boxes with cloth maps and manuals.

Since doing so I've got practically daily resistance from every side. I not only get resistance from people that claim to actually like these type of games, but I also get resistance from people that were part of making those games 30+ years ago! 🤷‍♂️

What I'm saying is your passion doesn't have to be popular, but it does have to be authentically you.
Otherwise, you'll just quit when you see how ugly humanity can be towards people that are slightly different than others.

I am now fully convinced major fraud is taking place in North Carolina crime stats.

Last night, I was researching a case when I kept noticing something odd.

A Hispanic suspect who was correctly labelled as "Hispanic" would strangely be "Caucasian" in other arrests.

This happened more than once, so I started digging.

Turns out, this CONSTANTLY.

In fact, even when a suspect is clearly Hispanic, even has an ICE detainer, and the option for Ethnicity is available to pick "H" (Hispanic)... they are OFTEN labelled as "Caucasian".

I didn't come across this once or twice.

I saw it hundreds and hundreds of times... the option to pick "Hispanic" is there, they just aren't using it.

They are purposely choosing the label of "WHITE CAUCASIAN" to identify CLEARLY Hispanic criminal illegal aliens from OTHER COUNTRIES.

This is massive fraud.

I guess @Kickstarter allows pledges over $10k in the U.S. now(?). Maybe good news for game devs if they can line up more high level backers beforehand.

This campaign has reward tiers at $12.5k and $25,000.

@IndieLauraSDG @Kickstarter $25k is the low end of angel investor territory. This could be really good for U.S. based indie devs that have large scope projects.

@PoliceIncident You'll notice he dumped 3 other "devices" along with the gas. They were maybe supposed to explode when they got hot enough, but rolled down the steps and away from the center of the flames. I wonder what was in them or if they went off?

Sure my game is ambitious, but some days I could really live without being the pied piper of mentally ill RPG fans.😆

I think the worst part for me is having their obsession spill out into other game dev threads just to complain about my game not being done yet. Those other devs don't deserve that and I think it makes them antagonistic towards me.

I find most people are really scared of attracting haters and the mentally ill to their game. They don't understand their obsession is just a signal of unregulated love for something, they yes, something they most likely view as ambitious.

Sometimes I wonder if these types are just super passionate people who think life never gave them a chance to focus those talents in a rewarding way for themselves and others. So instead they just lash out on anyone they see pursuing their dreams.

If it wasn't for the fact that these types are probably way too emotionally unregulated to work on an actual game dev team, they would actually be the type I'd want to hire. People as in love and obsessed with my game as I am.❤️

Next year or so, only game designers will matter.

It's clear that the cost of software coding is zero. Any feature, of any complexity is on tap right now, and will get cheaper.

After that all that will be left is design, taste and distribution. Very human tasks still.
