One machine was using more power than all four.

At first, that sounds like a great argument for efficiency.

But there’s a problem with that conclusion.

We don’t know what those machines were doing.

And that’s exactly why local AI hardware is getting harder to compare.

Power consumption, memory capacity, bandwidth and compute are all telling different parts of the story.

A machine using twice the power can still be the better choice if it gives you twice the useful work.

And a machine using less power isn’t automatically more efficient if it takes twice as long to finish the job.

For local AI, watts per second mean very little without knowing what you’re getting per watt.
