Suddenly seeing Vance all over the place talking about this deal, not Rubio, is pretty good evidence that he's the architect and owner of it. Worth remembering when 2028 rolls around.
@ggreenwald Excepting a few 19th century literary and musical outliers, since the reign of Peter the Great, Russian civilization has only ever been a tacky facsimile of something authentic & superior, of which the Russians have always been understandably jealous.
@IMAO_ In most cases, 100% agree. One exception I can think of is picking up kids from school. Lots of time/space to back into a spot as parents trickle in, but departure is a mad crush and pulling forward is faster, easier, safer, and less intrusive on others than backing out.
To test the zeitgeist of the Maine Senate race my son wore a "Graham Platner 2026" shirt today. He's been verbally abused twice, spit on and smacked with a shoe. Who knows what will happen when he finally leaves the house.
@MatthewStadlen Please know that most of us do not enjoy watching the UK morally debase itself. It's deeply saddening, even culturally traumatizing, to those who grew up believing the US was refining and perfecting innately Brisitsh ideals.
Plans released for a $16 billion mile-long ship capable of carrying 80,000 people.
The 'Freedom Ship' would be home to about 50,000 people, with space for 10,000 tourists and 20,000 crew members.
"The Freedom Ship is envisioned as a permanently mobile city at sea designed for long-term residence rather than short-term travel," the company says.
The ship would be about 8 times the size of the current largest ship in the world, the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas.
The plans include a 15,000-seat stadium, schools, colleges, shops, clubs, a water park, a music hall, museums, parks, and more.
The ship, which would run on nuclear, would be too large to dock and would remain in international waters.
Freedom Cruise International says it would go around the world every two to three years.
Insane.
@TheRabbitHole Yeah no, hard pass. Veto, actually. Schools bombard families, many parents do their best, some shit falls through the cracks, a few well-meaning parents bring the school to task for overburdening, the school adjusts appropriately. That is how we achieve equilibrium.
The banning of Hasan and Cenk from the UK merely for their opinions is manifestly unjustifiable in a free society and further indicative of the decline of freedom in Great Britain but on the other hand it’s funny so it’s impossible to say whether it’s bad or not.
PICARD: Data, shields up
DATA: Brilliant! Shields can reduce damage we sustain. Not immunity. Not hubris. Just prudence. It's not precaution—it's strategy.
