@hayseedmike Because this country has become really dumb - itโs as simple as that. We got fleeced that sales tax etc wud rise above the largest taxation there is, income. No one can do basic math anymore and live in a fog. Heck marijuana is a MO constitutional right -
@emzorbit Donโt forget making marijuana a MO constitutional right ๐คก
โBut if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesnโt sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity.โ
@realjakejacks I am pretty glad that I wonโt get taxed more when I buy a muffler - whew - crisis avoided.. Itโs one thing to declare victory for a belief - itโs another to directionally be wrong around a basic tenant of taxation at the highest level.
@jen_preuss@Beganovic2026 What we have to press on is, the gov needs to cut spending. If we vote to eliminate income taxes then they canโt spend at the same rate. It shouldnโt be 1 for 1
@jen_preuss@Beganovic2026 First, said $15-$30k and the basis of ROI is over time. Basically, if median household income in MO is $71,600 (and it is) and effective state and local tax rate is 4-7% on income - then a 3-5 year ROI is ๐ฅ. Play the long game when voting
TODAY'S LESSON IN IRONYโฆ
THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM IS ADMINISTERED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. THEY PROUDLY REPORT THAT THEY DISTRIBUTE 40 BILLION FREE MEALS & FOOD STAMPS TO OVER 37 MILLION PEOPLE ON AN ANNUAL BASIS.
MEANWHILE, THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, RUN BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR, ASKS US, "PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS". THEIR STATED REASON FOR THIS POLICY BEING THAT..
"THE ANIMALS WILL GROW DEPENDENT ON THE HANDOUTS, AND THEN THEY WILL NEVER LEARN TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES".
THIS CONCLUDES TODAY'S LESSON.
