#IWD2021 - No.8 - Elizabeth (Lizzie) Magie - game designer who created a game called 'The Landlord's Game'. 30yrs after The Landlord's Game was invented in 1904, Parker Brothers released a copy called Monopoly - patents proved that Magie was the original designer

#IWD2021 - No.7 - Letitia Mumford Geer - Geer is credited with her invention of the ONE handed syringe in 1899 - nearly 50 years after two handed designs first came about. Such an important design that we require even more in our current lives. @NHS_Education @NHSScotland

#iwd2021 - No.6 - Stephanie Kwolek (1923-2014) - known for inventing Kevlar. She discovered the 1st of a family of synthetic fibres of exceptional strength and stiffness. 1995 she was the 4th woman to be added to the National Inventors Hall of Fame. String to Space! @DuPont_News

#IWD2021 - No.5 - Margaret Calvert - Considered to be the mother of modern day information design. Calvart designed Britain’s road signing system, starting with the motorways, and ending with a complementary system for the entire network, including pictograms - READ AT SPEED!

#iwd2021 - No.4 - Aino Aalto (1894-1949) well-known Finnish architect and designer. She studied architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology like her husband, Alvar Aalto. Aalto’s most famous design is probably the her glassware range - rings of water. @artek_global

#iwd2021 - No.3 - Carolyn Davidson - Graphic Designer - Carolyn designed the famous @Nike Swoosh in 1971 while a graphic design student - was only paid $35. Davidson went on to spend the next 5 years with the company. Her career as a graphic designer continued next 30 years.

#iwd2021 - No. 2 - Beatrice Shilling 1909-1990 - one of the famous female engineers of all times. She was a British mechanical engineer serving in the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) during World War II. She developed a way to allow Spitfire planes to dive while in combat
