might be biased because i’m british but i don’t think we’re “complaining” about the heat, i think it’s common knowledge to be frustrated at the fact you can’t regulate your body temperature
Working 8 hours a day doesn’t sound that bad until you realize it’s never just 8 hours. There’s the unpaid time, the 2 hour commute, the energy you spend before work, the recovery afterward, and the version of yourself that’s too exhausted for anything else.
Anyone who's never experienced a heatwave in the UK thinks we're over reacting when we say how hot it is. It's not the same as other countries. The humidity is high and our houses are designed to keep the heat in. Our houses basically become air fryers and we don't have air con.
one of the hardest parts of living with depression is when it hits again after a period of healing. it feels like a cruel reminder that the relief is only ever temporary
I wish more people understood that if you don’t stop and slow down when you need to, your body is eventually going to force you to slow down, and it might not let you go back to how you were before.
There’s no clean line between a “good day” and a “bad day” with chronic illness.
“Good” just means manageable, not safe.
One moment you’re functioning, the next you’re not.
It flips that fast.
My therapist once explained that the reason you zone out in a towel after a shower, sit in your car long after parking, or mindlessly scroll at night isn't because you're lazy or unmotivated. It's because your nervous system is stuck in a functional freeze state. You can still work. You can still show up. You can still get things done. But it takes every ounce of your energy. That's why you feel chronically exhausted.
Why do you space out so easily? Why can you be social and fine all day and then ignore every message once you get home. This isn't a personality flaw. It's a body that has been surviving for too long.
I am so grateful to have grown up with Lizzie McGuire, Hannah Montana, That's so Raven, High School Musical, Wizards of Waverley Place, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Zoey 101, H2O Just add water, Camp rock, the sleepover club......what do kids even have today
the exhausting part about depression is that you can be self aware to the fact you're surrounded by wonderful people who care and make time for you and yet somehow your depression will convince you that you're the loneliest person on the planet
"She survived"
BRO She twitches in her sleep.
Her heart rate spikes at loud noises, she shuts down when yelled at. She's overly observant, She has nightmares, she often self-isolates but yea........
“she survived"
The worst part about high pain tolerance is being asked to rate your pain like bro idk???? I’m not dying but I’m definitely not comfortable. How does anyone actually answer this??
I’m a very straightforward person. I can’t hide my feelings to save my life. I don’t beat around the bush for anybody. I’m going to tell you exactly what it is and what it isn’t, and however you take it is on you.
Autistic people needing extra time alone to recharge, rejuvenate and recover from sensory overload and overstimulation is valid and does not mean we are being dramatic, disinterested, rude, or stuck-up.
Living with depression and anxiety
• no motivation to leave your
bed
• dreading leaving your house
• not being able to go out
• unable to make new friends
• being paranoid or restless
• mentally hurting
• zoning out a lot, ignoring
people
• not being yourself
What a rollercoaster ride that was!🎢… Would be fun if we hadn’t lived through ‘living with a Traitor’ for 7 years. Pleased to say that me, my mum and dad are and always have been ‘Faithfuls’🙏🏻
