Exactly this.

A DOCX file is really just a ZIP file (you can change the extension, extract, and view the insides) broken down into multiple other folders and files for content, formatting, etc.

And the application itself is a conglomeration of 25 years of functionality, some that hasn’t been updated in 15+ years.

If you want to use an app just to type into that has no frills and will keep your changes (and you can paste into Word later), use Notepad or Notepad++ with appropriate retention settings.

It won’t happen here. The school districts will grassroots lobby against it, will use their email lists for parents to call the state reps as they have done in the past.

58% of my property taxes go to the school district. That amount (just to the school district) is roughly 1% of my home’s estimated market price each year.
