the most beautiful earrings made from the wing casings (elytra) of the Sternocera Jewel Beetle are back 🌿! the colour shifts wonderfully between shimmering metallic blue & emerald green, its hard to believe they exist in nature. 💙

today I pinned some wonderful European moths & butterflies, captive-bred by a friend in Ukraine. we are lucky enough to have such diversely designed and beautiful species right on our doorstep, albeit not at the moment - they're hibernating! 🦋

dead leaf mantids have evolved to resemble crumpled up leaves, giving them the perfect camouflage for sneaking up on prey and hiding from predators. their threat display is just as impressive - with markings resembling eyes to hypnotise their prey! 🍂

I'm having so much fun raising these Calleta Silkmoth caterpillars, what a turquoise dream this little squidge is 🐛! they're so chubby and cute, and I love that each of their spikey black nodules has a tinge of metallic blue too 💙.
