The official X/Twitter account of Coalition to Stop the Arena in Potomac Yard, a citizen group opposed to the proposed arena complex in North Potomac Yard.
A few months back, our crew from the #StopThePotomacYardArena campaign took a trip to feel the real heartbeat of DC: the @thegogomuseum 🥁
This vital institution needs our help with their “Sustaining the Beat” campaign today. https://t.co/AndGasN8P6
@TheAlextrifier @theglobalvc Yes all of them were pro, none of the incumbents or anybody on Council spoke out against. Eventually Amy Jackson came out against it and then some Dem candidates like @Charlotte4ALX@j_huskey and @JamesLewisVA also came out against the arena publicly or ran on that issue.
“… Two even traveled to Richmond to advocate for it while the city paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to lobbyists. The projected revenue numbers just weren’t credible and residents rejected it – with a big assist from @SenLouiseLucas” https://t.co/ye0w5Fa4Kh
Let’s all go to this event next week and ask #Alexandria City Council candidates what their position on the Potomac Yard arena was before the project failed. #MonumentalMistake
We wouldn’t be the number one state for business if we had wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on a vanity arena project. You’re welcome Wannabe VP Pick for Tyrannical Trump.
@j_chapman99@justindotnet@Alyia4ALX@KirkMcPike@CanekForCouncil Yes Reginald James Brown (mistake to put Jones). He is a major donor to the Republican Party, a recent donor to a Super PAC in support of Ron DeSantis called Never Back Down, as well as Spirit of VA that supports Gov Youngkin. Is this who you want to be taking money from?
This is why you can't trust that the #MonumentalMistake won't happen again with this Council. Three of the four incumbents don't want you to know they supported the PY arena. Appreciate JTC who was honest in @AlexTimesNews Voter Guide. 🧵
It would be nice if @AlexandriaVAGov City Council had literally ANYTHING to say about their role in the debacle of the PY arena. At least Ted is clear -- it's us, not him, who is the problem.

“Eliminating single family zoning was peeing on my shoes and telling me it’s raining progressive or equitable public policy,” Huskey said. “It was not. And by not requiring developers to have any set asides, people on this council have convinced themselves that trickle
The arena exposed what is wrong and that the City is led by developers/development, not leading it. We also got a chance to finally meet up with @MJBofDCA, one of the leaders of the 1992 stadium fight in Alexandria and someone who helped coach us about the tactics t used before!
Thanks to all of the @stop_arena volunteers who came out to the @AlexVADems Debate to pass out flyers and support candidates who spoke about the arena project, reminding others that this topic shouldn’t be forgotten and those who supported it should be held accountable.
