Thank you for your response, Andrew. I'm more than happy to address some of the points you've raised and perhaps offer a little more perspective.

There has been evidence of Islamist influence at demonstrations ever since the events of October 7th in Israel. Almost every single weekend, the streets of major cities like London have been filled with protesters, some of whom are not simply calling for an end to violence, but chanting support for terrorist groups, calling for the annihilation of the State of Israel and, of course, engaging in antisemitic rhetoric.

I do not deny that the riots in France were initially inspired by frustrated students, but I believe they were quickly hijacked by the aforementioned Islamist groups. They seem to exploit every single protest or major event to advance their cause. And yes, that cause being the increased push towards an Islamist way of life.

It's not in any way normal or organic for so many of these left-wing events to be flooded with Palestinian flags and chants of "Allahu Akbar".

I'm afraid I believe that is a point of complete misunderstanding and, to a large extent, a coping mechanism of sorts.

It doesn't matter that the vast majority of Muslims in France are not Islamists. What matters is whether they support Islamist ideology or organisations. And it's that which is of great concern.

The vast majority of Muslims in Britain are not Islamists. However, according to various polls conducted over the years, a significant number of British Muslims have expressed support for Islamist organisations or beliefs. Some surveys have also reported considerable opposition to homosexuality and support for aspects of Sharia law.

You do not have to be a perpetrator of violence or personally engage in acts at odds with European values or laws to hold beliefs that may pose a threat to those values.

As for what I believe you may be afraid of, Andrew, I already explained that in my original post, but I will reiterate.

I believe many of those involved in the media do harbour a fear of being outright critical of Islam or Islamism. There's always the predictable reinforcement of statements such as "not all Muslims", or the suggestion that it's absurd to consider a wider link to the broader Islamist threat. Yet I believe such concerns are entirely rational, given the threat Islamist extremism has posed over the years.

The fear is quite simply that of being labelled an "Islamophobe" or a "racist".

Most people know that, unfortunately, in this nation of supposed "free speech", calling a spade a spade can be career ending.
