Prop 1 is NOT what it seems.

It's a deceptive abortion law cleverly written to hide what it actually does: Prop 1 legalizes abortion on demand up to 8 months into pregnancy, allows abortions on girls without their parents’ knowledge or consent, and lets “healthcare providers” who are not doctors perform abortions.

Prop 1 tells you it allows abortion until "fetal viability."

Then it redefines viability.

Buried in the fine print, Prop 1 would allow abortion on demand as late as the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. And it grants that right to "every person," with no age limit written anywhere in the text, so a minor could get an abortion without her parents knowing.

Prop 1 is too extreme for Idaho. Vote NO.

For decades, Idaho has said a baby is "viable" once it can survive outside the womb with medical help, like NICU support. Proposition 1 rewrites that definition entirely, saying a baby isn't viable until it can survive without this type of help. That doesn't happen until the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy.

Hidden behind deceptive language, Prop 1 is really late-term abortion, for any reason, well beyond the point when the baby can feel pain…

Proposition 1's definition of "healthcare provider" is too broad. It would allow staff at abortion clinics — who aren't doctors — to perform abortions, with no accountability if something goes wrong.

In Idaho, a child needs a parent's consent for an aspirin. Under Proposition 1, she wouldn't need it for an abortion, and the person performing it might not even be a doctor…

A parent has to sign off before a school nurse can give their child an aspirin. Proposition 1 would let that same child get an abortion with no parent involved at all.
