Nagkaroon ng tensyon sa impeachment trial ni VP Sara Duterte matapos magmatigas ang defense panel sa pangunguna ni Atty. Kristine Ferrer at tumangging mag-stipulate o kilalanin ang authenticity ng mga acknowledgment receipts (ARs) at iba pang dokumentong inihain ng prosecution.

Dito na pumasok ang beteranong litigator na si Atty. Lorna Kapunan, na tila nagbigay ng simpleng solusyon sa problemang mismo ring depensa ang gumagawa.

"If they do not trust the prosecution's documents... then we will use their documents. We are certain that their documents are the same as our documents. Let's use the defense documents."

Biglang nabaligtad ang sitwasyon.

Kung hindi raw nagtitiwala ang depensa sa kopya ng prosecution, sarili nilang mga dokumento ang gamitin.

Inihain natin ang House Bill No. 9851 para ipagbawal ang “subornation of perjury”. Sa ilalim ng panukala:

✅ Gagawing krimen ang pamimilit, pag-utos, o pagbayad sa isang tao para magsinungaling sa harap ng korte o sa isang legal na dokumento (affidavit).

✅ Ang nag-utos o nag-orchestrate ng kasinungalingan ay paparusahan na parang siya mismo ang gumawa ng perjury.

✅ Kung public officer o government employee ang gumawa nito, mas mabigat ang parusa. Maaari rin siyang ma-disqualify habang buhay sa anumang appointive o elective position sa gobyerno.

Hindi dapat magamit ang pera, posisyon, o kapangyarihan para ilihis ang hustisya.
