Tech billionaires want to force data centers on us with little to no regard for energy price spikes, environmental harms, or basic democratic decision-making. We must rein in AI before it's too late.
Saher Alghorra (NYT) has won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for "his haunting, sensitive series showing the devastation and starvation in Gaza"
@FineGael@HMcEntee Your party have corporatised housing. Tenant and state wealth is transferred to shareholders of companies like Greystar, IRES REIT et al who make obscene profits on the backs of the working poor. Fine Gael’s neoliberal capitalist policies serve only the already wealthy.
These 'shed-sits' are taken directly from the Collison billionaire-backed 'Progress Ireland' think tank.
Government wants to create a 2nd tier of renter - where there's no access to the RTB, evictions without notice, & no entitlement to even basic privacy from landlords...
The ever eloquent Robin Mandal of the Dublin Democratic Planning Alliance pointing out that this is just another example of government failing in its duty to build homes and properly plan our communities. https://t.co/QlDSIhxrou
⭕️ REPORT | Ali al-Samoudi, 59, one of the most prominent Palestinian journalists in the West Bank, was released Thursday after enduring a year in Israel’s torture prisons, without charge or trial, Quds News reported.
He said he lost half his body weight—dropping from 120 kg to 60—describing Israeli prisons as a “graveyard for the living.”
Al-Samoudi was initially held for 80 hours in a military barracks in Jenin, handcuffed and blindfolded, without water, food, or medicine, before being severely beaten during his transfer to Megiddo prison, where his glasses were broken and his clothes confiscated.
He suffered stomach, colon, head, and eye pain, urinary tract infections, and loss of consciousness throughout his detention, according to lawyers.
He said to his lawyer: “They informed me that I am being detained because I am a journalist and correspondent for Al Jazeera and Al-Quds newspaper. We will not bring charges against you related to your journalistic work, lest there be an international backlash and scandal for Israel.”
The Israeli military initially accused al-Samoudi of transferring funds to the armed resistance group Palestinian Islamic Jihad, but provided no evidence — and military prosecutors never leveled that accusation in court.
Al-Samoudi was present at the scene and wounded in May 2022 when an Israeli sniper killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh during a raid on Jenin refugee camp. Another journalist present at Abu Akleh’s killing, Mujahed al-Saadi — a Drop Site News contributor — remains in Israeli detention.
In the early hours of September 19, 2024, Israeli special forces broke down his door, beat him with rifle butts and fists, and beat his wife, before dragging him barefoot from his home in front of his three young children. He has had his administrative detention repeatedly extended and has been held at Al-Naqab prison in the Negev desert, notorious for systematic torture, medical neglect, and starvation policies.

Vulture funds In 2025, a staggering 56% of new homes in Dublin were purchased by non-household entities. That’s 4,079 out of 7,298 new builds.
The 2026 Start In the first three months (Q1) of 2026, 7,856 new dwellings were completed. While the government claims this is momentum, a huge chunk of these especially the 2,355 apartments is destined for Build-to-Rent funds rather than first-time buyers.
Why is government afraid to admit their 'shed-sit' policy is taken directly from the Collison billionaire-backed 'Progress Ireland' think tank?
This is corporate capture of our government.
Billionaires shouldn't exist, and certainly shouldn't be setting government policy.
Tax justice? Looking forward to Lucinda's article on the Gov mandated QIAIF plunder which allows vulture funds to extract extortionate rents from tenants (& the state via HAP) while paying zero tax on rental income, capital gains stamp duty or Vat. A systematic ransack of society
Let me get this straight. The rise in antisemitic attacks in Britain has NOTHING to do with Israel's (self proclaimed only Jewish state) litany of war crimes in recent years but IS connected to the protests and marches opposing those war crimes. Perfect. Got it.
With 4 Airbnbs available for every 1 long term rental across the country, this government wants to push people into these 'shed-sits', where they have no access to the RTB, can be evicted without notice, and where they are not even entitled to privacy from their landlord...
We visited the proposed site for the data centre in Louth on the river Boyne and spoke to residents in the area about the ramifications if this proposed data centre goes ahead.
Nobody wants the data centre and nobody knew about one being proposed next to their homes
One killed journalist might be a tragic accident.
Two killed journalists are undeniable attempts to intimidate journalists and suppress freedom of press.
Over 260 dead journalists in 2.5 years is the works of the most ruthless terrorist organization in the history of the world.
Mick Lynch wants a progressive wealth tax, which is a Green Party Policy, with the richest paying the same as everyone else on PAYE, 47%.
That would bring in hundred of billions, it is time for the richest to pay what everyone else has been paying their whole lives.

@GKWestW@Annie_deBhal Hauliers who refuse to recognise workers trade unions and who take injunctions out when they vote for strike are no friends of the working class. It would be idiotic to think that they are.
