App Store Connect Analytics has a source called Web Referrer: the websites that sent people to your product page.
This week, hold that list against every directory and launch site you posted on.
If one never appears, it is not sending anyone.
Google Play has no keyword field.
Search reads the title (30 characters), short description (80) and full description (up to 4,000). Words that are not in visible text cannot rank.
This week, find each App Store keyword missing from your Play listing.
The largest #1 app in App Store search had 2.7 million ratings. The median had 15.
The giant is the one you remember, and it is the exception.
This week, reopen every keyword you dropped as too hard and check the #1 app's ratings in your storefront.
Name, subtitle and keyword field only change with a new App Store version. That makes each release a clean test. Note your rank per keyword and storefront before you submit. Change one field. Compare once it has been live a while.

App Review guideline 5.1.1(v): an app without significant account-based features should be usable without logging in.
If the first screen asks for an email, check it against that line this week.
Move sign-up to the moment an account is actually needed, like sync.
Google Play title: 30 characters. Short description: 80.
Many small apps spend the whole title on the brand name.
This week: make the title your name plus what the app does, and the short description one plain sentence about the problem it solves.
Open App Store Connect this week and split downloads by source: App Store Search, Browse, Web Referrer, App Referrer.
If Search is a small share, work on name, subtitle and keyword field.
If Search brings impressions but few downloads, fix the first screenshot.
App Store search reads three fields: name (30 characters), subtitle (30), keyword field (100).
A word repeated across them counts once. List every word in all three and cut the repeats.
Put the freed characters into words people actually search for.
The US is the hardest App Store storefront for a small app. #1 apps with fewer than 100 ratings: US 20 of 59 keywords. UK 15 of 37. Turkey 44 of 94. Ratings count per storefront. Launch where the top result is thin, not where the market is biggest.
@appdriftco You're right. We made the last line too absolute. A year without an update makes a listing worth investigating, but it doesn't make its keywords worth targeting. Demand, relevance and storefront conversion have to hold up too. Thanks for the thoughtful correction.
The median app ranked #1 in App Store search is 5 years old.
103 of the 315 we looked at have not shipped an update in the past year.
A lot of keywords are held by apps nobody is maintaining. Those are the ones to go after.
One localization decides App Store search in 85 of 175 storefronts: English (U.K.).
Then Spanish (Mexico): 17. Arabic: 11. French: 9. Russian: 6.
Five localizations, 128 storefronts. Fill those five before you translate a single screenshot.
The keyword volume number most ASO tools still print collapsed by 77% in four days. US keywords above Apple's popularity floor: 165,875 on 29 Sep 2025 β 39,254 on 2 Oct. Own measurement, both endpoints read from the score.

Every screen in the screenshots we post is one click away in the demo. It runs on sample data with every plan limit open: click into a keyword, break down its top-10 ratings, switch storefronts, see what the chart does on a day that could not be collected.
