Years ago, when we were growing up, any woman who didn’t give birth to a son was seen as incomplete. People thought she was “not woman enough.” Ignorance made them believe that the power to give birth to a son rested with the woman. They looked at her like she was evil, refusing to use the “power of her womb” to give birth to a son.
Women who had sons were seen as complete. Some of them even paraded themselves, acting as if they had done something noble by their own power. Some would taunt women without sons. No man was ever held responsible for not giving birth to a son. In fact, some husbands made their wives’ lives miserable for having only daughters. The disgust with which people spoke about women without sons was as if they carried a plague.

Many women risked their lives trying to give birth to sons. Some didn’t even care about the negative effects of giving birth year after year, simply because they wanted a son. Some women who gave up trying for a son named one of their daughters Nwanyi Bu Nwa , meaning “a girl child is a child.”

It is good to know that, many years later, science has shown us that whether a child is male or female does not depend on the woman or her womb. If anyone should be blamed for not having a son, it should be the men, because it is their chromosome that determines the gender of the child.
There were great men who never tormented their wives for having only daughters. At the time, they were seen as weak men, but now it is clear they were the truly great ones.

Many families then thought educating their daughters was a waste of time and resources, but the great men did not listen to that nonsense.

There is no excuse for taking another person’s life. No matter how angry, hurt, or betrayed you feel, killing is never the answer.

Once a life is taken, nothing can undo it. Regret will come, but it will be too late.
If a situation is destroying your peace, walk away. Run from anything that will push you into madness or turn you into someone you are not.

Your peace of mind is priceless. No marriage, relationship, or societal expectation is worth losing your freedom, your future, or your soul.

People will always talk. Today they talk, tomorrow they move on. The same people who push you to “endure” will not sit in prison with you or carry your guilt. Society is quick to judge but slow to support.

It is better to be single, divorced , than to be known as a woman who killed her husband. Divorce may bring shame for a moment, but prison brings shame for life. Divorce allows you to heal, start again, and protect your children. Violence destroys everything.

Choose life. Choose peace. Choose yourself. Walking away is not a weakness, it is wisdom. it is strength!!!
