@monezart she needed another feature to make the spin a level 4 - the version she did at doi this summer was only a 3 (difficult fly, two difficult positions)
@goatchiba@whathellsur3 she needed the difficult exit for the level 4 though which the blade grab illusion qualifies as. she could’ve picked a different feature sure but the version of the spin she did this summer was only a level 3
@ikuko_akgae had a convo with her one time about her rotation speed bc she complimented the height on my jumps (doubles mind you) and i was like yeah girl but you spin so fast and she was like that’s all i’ve got LMFAO
@n0lancarney they didn’t have the ice time for it this year because the mid atlantics nqs is tuesday to friday and nicks normally was tuesday and wednesday
@UREdgeisflat@maimcml she doesn’t use her hair cutter in her other spin, her LSp has side to flat back, biellman variation, 8 revs, and difficult exit as her 4 features
@maimcml my guess as someone with tech specialist experience is that they didn’t call the heel feature tbh i don’t think it was a distinct enough left (based on the way they’ve been calling them)
my hot take is that you will never ever develop competitive success and consistency if running your program does not feel like breathing. like you need to do a run through like clockwork everyday and then you can do sections after if you wanna. but no other way to get stamina
maybe i don’t know that much about the specifics of training at the elite level but it’s always so funny to me to read interviews/articles where ppl are like “x skater got much better after they started doing full runthroughs of programs” like that seems obvious
@vmstagemom imma be real i don’t even think she goes by ava marie i swear that’s just how her name got submitted by usfs to the isu and now it appears like that on all her entries 💀
i have been a competitive figure skater for a decade and a half and never once in my life have i heard of anyone i know doing this is this a real thing
when will we hold gabi and vika accountable for the absolute pandemic of pairs and ice dance ladies with absolutely massive wedgies because they don’t sew their dresses onto their tights😭
