Stormtrack turns 47 years old today! The 50th anniversary is just three years away now! Please consider contributing content to the planned anthology. See the forum for details.
Something of a corollary to Rule 34, if someone does something, someone else will make a parody of it.
In that context, we present a parody of extreme storm chasing and all of the crazy tools they use to try to penetrate tornadoes and survive!

New research continues to suggest that wind speed estimates from tornado damage underestimate radar-sampled wind speeds at low levels in tornadoes. See this thread for references: https://t.co/Tt0ZMOR8Vb
Scary situation in Broomfield, CO. Stormtrack owner Jeff lived in the building seen in the foreground left for a few months back in 2019, and then across the street until 2022. He had never sensed that the community was anything but safe.
Thankfully now resolved.
Stormtrack owner Jeff Duda works at the David Skaggs Research Center, which houses NWS Boulder, many NOAA research labs, and CU and CSU research facilities, and is pictured in the foreground. We've been ordered to evacuate (Jeff is teleworking today, so is not on site).
Chasers are posting their 2024 chase season stats on this thread: https://t.co/Az3vYEw1by. Come on by to read how others did and/or contribute your own story.
Incredible video as the reported tornado ripped through a farm on Henry Road in Arkwright. The roof was ripped off. A barn was flattened. Homeowners tell me everyone is ok @WKBW
Paul Markowski from Penn State gave an extended lecture at NCAR in 2023 regarding some new thoughts on the mechanisms of tornadogenesis. Go to this thread for a link to the video: https://t.co/RWS9uBIxIi
Did it seem hazy for your chase yesterday? Chances are you can thank widespread fires across Mexico and into Belize and Guatemala even. All of the dark spots on this GOES shortwave-IR product are fire hot spots. Plenty lining the Bay of Campeche, but also the Sierra Madre!
