2021: I was in the middle of severe flooding on Ishawo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos.
2026: I took the oath to become a Canadian citizen.
From one season of uncertainty to another chapter of stability and growth.
What's the average budget you should prepare to fund your Canada Japa plans, as a Nigerian? 🇨🇦
One of the questions we get. Can ₦10 - 15M take me to Canada on study route?"
The real answer: It depends👇
3 things that determine your budget:
1. Course of Study - Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's & PhD all have different tuition. Diplomas are cheaper, but IRCC also looks at age + study gap if you choose diploma route.
2. Provision for POF- Proof of Funds. IRCC wants to see you can support yourself aside from tuition.
3. University/College of Choice -
Tuition varies wildly. Some colleges charge ₦8M/year, some universities charge ₦18M+. Location in Canada also matters.
Another Important thing you should take note of:👇
You will be better off, if you pay the 1 year full tuition or at least 1 semester tuition upfront.
This increases your visa approval chances. So your "school fees budget" must be ready first.
Note on Diplomas: If you're going for diploma/college route, age is a factor IRCC considers. Study gap + relevance matters a lot.
Bottom line is this: ₦15M can work for some people, but may not be enough for others. It all comes down to the 3 factors above.

How to make it BIG abroad in your first year as a Nigerian. 🇳🇬🇨🇦
Finance the latest car immediately. Your people back home need to see you made it. The $800 monthly payment can sort itself out. 🚙
Get the newest iPhone. You are still on a survival job but perception is everything. 📱
Send money home before you pay rent. Family cannot wait. Landlord can. 💵
Tell everyone you are doing well. Never show struggle. Struggle is a private sport. 😁
Work three jobs and call it hustle. Sleep is for people who are not serious. 😓
Skip the savings account. You are going back home soon anyway. 💰
Attend every owambe. Community is important. Your credit score is not. 🕺
Buy that designer bag. You worked hard. You deserve it. 💼
And whatever you do do not ask for help. 🙏🏾
You left Nigeria to make it. Not to look like you are not making it.
Honest Question ❓
What's Delaying Your Immigration Plans?
We want to hear from you:
1) Lack of funds
2) I was denied admission or visa
3) I’m in the process, God will help me
4) Waiting on scholarships and loans
5) I don't know where to start from
6) None of the above

Interesting Developing News 📰🗞️💃🏼
Big Win for 39 Countries that were previously placed on ban in the US 🇺🇸
For aspiring immigrants in any of the 39 countries which includes Nigeria, this is the best immigration news you’ll hear all year.
What happened?
A federal judge just struck down policies that let USCIS use nationality alone to delay cases. This has caused months of waiting, uncertainty, and unanswered questions and eventual visa denials.
What this means for you:
USCIS must now resume making decisions instead of stalling based on country of origin.
We may start seeing movement on:
- *Green Card applications* - Form I-485
- *Work Permits* - Form I-765
- *Naturalization* - Form N-400
- *Certain employment-based petitions*
*Important: This does NOT mean*
❌ Automatic approval
❌ End of security checks
❌ End of travel ban
❌ Every delayed case gets approved instantly
*What you should do NOW:*
If your case has been sitting in “limbo” for months/years, you can contact an immigration expert like us to help you review your situation, and areas of possible adjustments or process your applications.
If you've been considering the US too, this may be a motivating news to help you get started.
Note: This is still developing. The government may appeal and USCIS hasn’t released full implementation details yet.
But, stay in touch as we will keep updating you.
