For some days, she looked like she wanted to tell me something but held back. Then she came and sat herself by my side, and started small talk as usual. A few minutes into the chat, looking the other side, she said (words paraphrased) in an unusual low reflective voice: “daddy, although you don’t tell me, I hear about everything. I know what has been happening. I know what you’re going through, and I know why. I am proud of you, for choosing to speak for suffering people. I fear to lose you, and I know I will. But it makes me happy that people talk good about you, and my teachers keep praising you and telling me to be like you.”

Tears started forming in both our eyes, I held her arms, and we found ourselves laughing, when I said a cartoon of her crying would be a funny one.
