NEW podcast episode is up!
"Tim’s Founder Kitchen — From Brainstorm to The President’s Office in Two Months (Featuring Jake Becraft, Strand Therapeutics)"
This episode is an experiment!
I'm trying out a new format: half interview, half live jam session. I've started a new series, working title "Tim's Founder Kitchen," built around actual brainstorming sessions with founders willing to share the audio.
This first instalment is with Jake Becraft of Strand Therapeutics. @DrSynbio is the CEO and co-founder of @StrandTx, a clinical-stage biotechnology company with a pipeline of breakthrough mRNA therapeutics for cancers and autoimmune diseases.
Let me know by replying here what you think of this experiment and how I can make the series better.
Please enjoy!
Hard to miss Kunal Bhatia on the @Nasdaq tower in Times Square, featuring his appointment as Chief Financial Officer.
In Kunal’s words, “I joined Strand because I believe we are one of the most innovative biotech companies today; importantly, we are prosecuting a big vision with rigor and intense focus.”
Glad to have him helping lead this next chapter
What if a medicine could decide when and where to activate inside your body?
Strand co-founder and CEO @DrSynbio joined the @ProgressPotent1 podcast with @irat1onal to discuss programmable mRNA therapeutics, Strand’s origins at MIT, and what early clinical results mean for the future of genetic medicine.

mRNA therapeutics are a powerful modality. It's also one where you can’t take shortcuts if you want to succeed, and circular RNA (circRNA) is no different.
In a new interview with @PharmaScrip’s @awmcconaghie, our co-founder, President, and Head of R&D @tasuku_kitada breaks down what it takes to build an in vivo CAR-T platform that can deliver in the clinic: optimized circRNA architecture, targeted lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery, and programmable safety controls built directly into the construct.
With major pharma bets pouring into the space, Tasuku makes the case that the companies that win will be the ones that did the engineering work before rushing to the clinic.

Circular RNA is emerging as one of the most exciting frontiers in gene and cell therapy. At Strand, we've been building on it for years.
BioWorld's @MarJungle covered the latest advances at #ASGCT2026, including a conversation with our co-founder, President, and Head of R&D @tasuku_kitada. They discuss how Strand is using circRNA to power STX-005, our in vivo CAR-T program designed to be a redosable, off-the-shelf approach to cell therapy.

Strand stays committed to fostering the next generation of scientists. Shoutout to Strands Eloise, Gautam and Daniel for participating as judges for the MSEF Middle School Science Fair this past weekend!
Programmable RNA is coming for in vivo CAR-T.
Tomorrow at #ASGCT2026, our Principal Scientist Ashlesha Odak, Ph.D. is presenting preclinical NHP data showing how programmable circRNA, combined with a targeted LNP approach, can generate functional CAR-T cells in vivo with integrated safety controls.
No cell extraction, no manufacturing facility. This is pioneering what's possible in programmable genetic medicine.

How are advances in sequence design, delivery, and manufacturing closing the gap between computational insight and real-world medicines?
Join @tasuku_kitada, co-founder, President, and Head of R&D at Strand Therapeutics, at @SynBioBeta on Wednesday, May 6, for a panel on one of the most important questions in programmable medicine.
We hope to see you there!
Strand Therapeutics is heading to the @MilkenInstitute Global Conference 2026 in Los Angeles. On May 4 at 10 a.m. PT, our CEO and co-founder, @DrSynbio, will join an invitation-only panel on sustaining American leadership in biomedical innovation.
He’ll be joined by @SecAzar, 24th U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services; @mmrozenman, CFO and CBO of @insitro; and @rtnarch, co-founder and managing director of ARCH Venture Partners. The session will be moderated by @SungHeeTweets, managing director of FasterCures at Milken Institute Health.
Looking forward to continuing the conversation at #MIGlobal.

We're excited to welcome Kunal Bhatia to Strand as Chief Financial Officer.
Kunal brings 15 years of investment banking experience advising biopharmaceutical companies on financing and business development, most recently as interim CFO and CBO to a portfolio of life sciences companies.
His appointment comes as Strand advances a growing pipeline – STX-001 clinical data, STX-003 heading to the clinic in mid-2026, and our in vivo CAR-T program – and builds on a $153M Series B.
As we enter this next chapter, Kunal's expertise in capital formation and strategic partnerships positions Strand to keep advancing our mission of integrating programmable genetic medicines into the core of modern therapeutics.

Generating CAR-T cells inside the body, without removing and reengineering a patient's cells, has long been one of cell therapy's most persistent unsolved challenges. We're presenting data at #ASGCT2026 with data that shows how programmable mRNA can deliver on it.
Ashlesha Odak, PhD will go over preclinical findings from the circRNA-LNP platform showing near-complete B cell depletion in non-human primates following IV dosing, with programmable safety controls built in.
Presentation details below. Full abstract here: https://t.co/9621aUBPK6
Abstract Title: Programmable circRNA-tLNP platform enables efficient in vivo CAR-T cell programming and robust activity in a NHP model
Session Type: Oral
Session Name: LNPs for in vivo CAR-T applications
Date and Time: Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 9:00-9:15 am ET
Location: MCEC Room 210 ABC (Level 2)
Congratulations to our co-founder and CEO @DrSynbio, named a finalist for the @EY_US Entrepreneur Of The Year 2026 New England Award.
Jake built Strand on a single conviction: mRNA could be programmed to know the difference between healthy and diseased cells. That idea is what this recognition reflects, and what we believe the future of genetic medicine will be built on.
Congrats, Jake!
Happy belated Earth Day from Strand Therapeutics! 🌎 Strands celebrated by taking public transit to work, swapping disposable cups and bottles for reusable bottles, eating plant based, donating clothing, and cleaning up litter near our office!
What does it take to make immunotherapy safer for every patient?
A new manuscript in @Annals_Oncology co-authored by our CMO @jasonlukemd takes on a piece of that puzzle: how Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS) is graded and reported in trials.
The authors call for granular, symptom-driven reporting to cut diagnostic ambiguity and enable safety comparisons across global trials. As Strand advances our own therapies into solid tumors and beyond, building the right safety infrastructure as the field scales is essential.
