Our very own Dr Ann Power (@DrAnnPower) and Prof Annie Worsley (@RedRiverCroft)!!
Absolutely FANTASTIC news. Wonderful research, incredible dedication from the entire team, and brilliant to be in Nature.
So happy to share our paper: "The evolution of atmospheric particulate matter in an urban landscape since the Industrial Revolution" https://t.co/4f1BTqXDWX Detailing generational changes in air pollution in Merseyside revealed by urban ponds @RedRiverCroft@Dr_JohnLove
The latest in the series of letters with Lochaber crofter Kirsteen Bell for @tweetbytheriver's Coast, Croft & Hill: letters from the NW Highlands.
This month we talk about nightjars, spinning, cuckoos and wildflowers.

Dear @russellcrowe if you are enchanted with this part of the world and if you read anything about the Scottish Highlands it should be this:
'Windswept: life, nature and deep time in the Scottish Highlands' by @RedRiverCroft published by @WmCollinsBooks
Literally devastating news
And almost certainly even worse because the models don't include the effects of huge volumes of Greenland meltwater pouring into the North Atlantic at a rate of 30 million tonnes AN HOUR

Croft, Coast and Hill: Letters from the NW Highlands of Scotland.
As Easter approaches, Kirsteen Bell and I find sweet grass, sweeter herbs, and thin wobbles of lambs. (I love writing these letters!)

Late afternoon squall over South Erradale. A rainbowed snow veil hiding the mountains, filling the river, and stinging my eyes.
Spring, Wester Ross, Highlands of Scotland.
If you need some peace & solace, some time out from the relentlessly febrile news feed, here's the sea near my home, about 15 mins after sunset, when the world was still & all I could hear was my own breathing.
(Today it's pouring down & the wind is rattling the roof 🤣)
A strange cold calm, a short pause in the stream of biting winds from the east, everything & everyone wrapped in a comfort blanket of solace, peace & light, much-needed respite from the mayhem & chaos of the wider world.
View over the croft to the Torridon mountains.
A new blog post for an already fast-moving year.
Strange weather, wonderful beaches, places and people. Time ticking. The wonders of the natural world.
Happy reading 😊https://t.co/w1UMaVyEEs
Almost Mars.
Beach cobbles of billion year old Torridonian sandstones on the sands of Red Point, Wester Ross, Scotland, Planet Earth.

Beinn Eighe from the road home. High summits. Confusions of snow, flusters of cloud. But oh my, the late afternoon light.
Wester Ross, Highlands of Scotland.
One of the most awe-inspiring displays I've ever seen - the #NorthernLights just a short while ago.
The colours are exactly as we witnessed - vibrant, rich and profound. I am completely overwhelmed and utterly humbled.

It's both an honour and a blessing to write for @tweetbytheriver's Shadows & Reflections. Here's a few words in a busy year in the NW Highlands & elsewhere!
Happy reading 😊
