@The_RS_Gadfly@Prominent_Bryan@GrahamG22047543 The number of gas and diesel gallons sold annually for road use is approximately 135 billion gallons. Road tax revenue on that is about 50¢ per gallon.
The United States spends approximately $200 billion on road construction and maintenance annually.
@The_RS_Gadfly@Prominent_Bryan@GrahamG22047543 The fuel taxes do not cover the cost of road construction and maintenance in the United States.
It costs about $1.50 for every gallon of gasoline and diesel sold. Federal, state, and local gas taxes typically cover around 50¢.
@MatthewSitman I recall listening to him in the 1990s. The amount of misinformation the man put forward about HIV, likely lead to the deaths of many of his listeners.
@Kamerunga1 The NWS weather equipment at airports, including Newport, tested and certified for air carrier operations. Newport was reporting clear, and Providence reporting cirrus above 20,000 feet. Claiming your eyes are superior has no credibility.
@Kamerunga1 The clouds in the picture are cirrus. The airplane you reference, was operating five miles below them, and is incapable of ever being able to climb that high.
The place you reference was Newport RI, which has had clear skies all day.
@Kamerunga1 That’s an Islander flying around at 1,000 feet.
The clouds over the Newport Providence area today were in the flight levels - 22,000 to 30,000 feet.
@Kamerunga1 The clouds over PVD yesterday were generally between 22,000 feet and 25,000 feet - high cirrus clouds.
The Cessna was flying below 5,000 feet.

@N7sFirst@nogps1 It appears that an E-3 Sentry was being refueled; in formation with a KC-135. The Sentry’s pilot idled the engines to descend and pull back - that is the pause in the contrails. When the pilot powered back up, the contrails resumed.
