@simonjjones@jack Just found your reply in my mentions, and thought I'd come back to say you're just completely ignorant if you think "power is completely transmittable". What other uses of energy do you think should be banned?
@Eric__TheDude @danheld It can be mined at great cost, same as gold. But it cannot be printed, unlike fiat. Understanding takes time, and I'd encourage you to take the time.
@True_2_power @danheld If you're going to hold that position, fine. But you do realize that wallets aren't people, right? So an exchange wallet or other custodian can hold funds for thousands or tens of thousands of people. Better to rely on the other reasons you think Bitcoin is a Ponzi.
@wabbit89@sdschools I see. So if a hospital is maxxed out, should priority be given to an unvaxxed Covid patient or to a life-long smoker who is having respiratory issues? Your logic ends with government being able to mandate diet and exercise...
@tafkak@sjstraughn@sdschools@kprather88 But since you objected to my question apparently being off-topic, I'll modify it. What does your anecdote have to do with health choices that parents make for/with their 16 year-olds?
@tafkak@sjstraughn@sdschools@kprather88 Go ahead and read the text of what they passed. When the FDA gives approval for another age cohort, it will be mandated by SDUSD, so it will eventually affect all students.
@sdschools Same with the outdoor mask requirement. You put forward guidance based on the work of your UCSD advisers, which was to mask indoors, then 2 days later caved to the most fearful among us and added the outdoor requirement. Did your experts forget that Covid spreads outdoors too?
@sdschools Where is the data showing that Covid is more of a threat to children than the vaccine? You claim to always be following the science, but show no data.
@sdschools You're so proud of yourselves. Is there any limiting principle when it comes to what can be mandated in order to protect others? Isn't the vaccine enough to protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated? Or do vaccines not work?
@kpedmonds@sdschools Where is the data that makes you so confident that Covid is more of a threat to children than the vaccine? Seems like in both cases the risk is incredibly low, with the vaccine having more unknowns.
@jaymekaye3 @Wendy4SD @sandiegoAPE @sdschools Except that this vaccine has only been around for a short time, so long-term effects are unknowable. Also, the risk of adverse effects from a COVID infection in kids is extremely low. But yeah, other than the most important factors, it's the same thing.
@nbcsandiego We are told that the policies are informed by the best scientists at UCSD. So why did they change the mask policy 2 days after publishing it? Did their scientists forget that outdoor masking is necessary? Or do they just do what's needed to placate the most fearful parents?
