Can't Get You Out Of My Head (2001) uses the same exact four synth notes from Show Me Love (1993) and I can't find any reference to this anywhere including WhoSampled
In the hours leading up to the decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel, two sources familiar with the matter say, senior executives at ABC, its owner Disney, and affiliates convened emergency meetings to figure out how to minimize the damage. Multiple execs felt that Kimmel had not actually said anything over the line, the two sources say, but the threat of Trump administration retaliation loomed.

Here’s a story that’s becoming all too common: federal immigration agents using racial and ethnic profiling as a rationale for stopping, questioning and detaining U.S. citizens who they suspect are undocumented.

ICE detain yet another U.S. citizen—for driving to work while "looking" Mexican.
Agents pulled him from car & handcuffed him in seconds—not even asking for his ID.
"They profiled me, just grabbed me like I was a criminal," he said.
"I'm American. My background is Mexican, but I was born in this country."
Coworkers rushed to his aid yelling, "Are you guys ICE? This guy is a citizen here!"
Rodrigo Almendarez says he plans to file a lawsuit over his detainment.
The unlawful incident occurred in Simi Valley, California. #DemsUnited
Kim Davis refused to issue a marriage license on religious grounds. But she worked for the state. Why would she even care what the state thinks. She can privately believe that god doesn’t think the marriage is valid. And still issue a license. I don’t get her argument
Those of you who don't know what authoritarianism looks like...this is it. All the gaslighting about previous presidents "what about...!!! Is bullshit. I've been talking about the slide towards NOW for 30+ years. Those earlier concerns were nothing. Now we are HERE.
Have been thinking about this and it seems like social features will be critical for bloggers, chefs who post recipes, etc to retain the long tail of users. For example, people enjoy reading the comments section. You don't get that via chatgpt unless you click thru to the source
News corps and publishers have been licensing their content to AI behemoths, I guess to recoup losses from folks getting their news&info via a chatbot. NYT had previously sued OpenAI over this. What about smaller self-publishers (e.g. self-hosted blogs)? Can't afford to sue
If I blog, and my traffic declines toward zero over time due to AI aggregation, why would I continue blogging if people aren't clicking through the chatbot source to my site? Is there some other motivation?
Every American should read this ACLU lawsuit about what is happening in California. It is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. This is not immigration enforcement. It is positively stuffed with videos and articles documenting racial profiling on a scale unseen since Jim Crow.
ICE agents point rifles—then drive van through protesters at San Francisco immigration court.
A black van sped through a dozen protesters—running over at least 1 woman trying to hold onto the hood.
Agents brandished rifles, deployed pepper spray & shoved people to ground— according to eyewitness accounts.
"I was bleeding everywhere," said one woman who declined to give her name. "They were brutal to those of us trying to exercise our rights and protect our community."
Protesters were trying to stop an arrest using their bikes & bodies—in what was San Francisco's most violent ICE encounter of 2025 so far.

Also Medicaid. $1 trillion in cuts over 10 yrs. Another step backward. Richest country in the world, and we are not willing to say "citizens have the right to healthcare".
And I know that the work requirements don't apply to everyone -- there are exemptions if you are elderly, or have children. They are trying to remove and reduce those exemptions.
Is now really the time to make the biggest cut to SNAP ever? SNAP is like $5 per day per individual for groceries. And there are already work requirements-- this is for folks who, despite working, need help feeding their families. They're about to cut over $100,000,000,000
