🚨 Martin Brundle believes Carlos Sainz is at a crossroads in his career
“He’s stuck at a point in his career and his life that isn’t ideal, to put it mildly.”
“He’s in a bit of a dead end. Let’s hope Williams has something for 2027.”
“He chose not to go to Audi, which I think was what his father wanted. Now I’m sure he’s considering all the options.” 🤔

Just to nip this in the bud for anyone wondering why Lewis’ gap to Leclerc for Hungary came out as quite large - I think it’s quite easy to see but anyway:
The Soft stints were spent with Hamilton being behind Verstappen and Antonelli on worse/older tyres and not being able to see his unhindered speed. Which leaves the Hard stints, where they rarely had slower cars ahead.
On the Hards, Lewis gained 10s in around 40 laps (0.3%) overall just by eye, and going into it more we see that even on a 6 lap offset he gained some time on his teammate in the 2nd stint and on the 1st stint was caught but that’s ok because he’s on 3 lap older tyres.
When you line the stints up (post fuel-corrected times), so comparing equal tyre lives instead, then Lewis comes to 0.3% faster in those laps.
Quite an easy explanation this weekend, and adds up with the pace difference seen in Qualifying too
Debunking some myths about Hamilton
"Hamilton always had the best car"
Lewis never had truly the best car during his whole mclaren stint. They were competitive in 2007-08, mediocre in 2009,half decent in 2010, decent in 2011-12.
Ollie on his future to F1 beyond the grid podcast 🎙️:
"[...] my goal remains to be a Ferrari driver one day. That, at the moment, is the case and then we need to see how things develop"
"Of course, I don't want to be sitting around for three, four, five years waiting for a seat to become available because there's no guarantees, and then you can be wasting your best years"
"My ultimate goal is maybe a bit selfish, and that's okay because that's the reason I'm here, and that's because I want to be fighting for World Championships, so if I can have that opportunity wherever, I will take it"
"If that means it's not with Ferrari because they can't offer me that position, then that's life. That's not up to me. Of course, I want to be fighting for wins, for championships, and whatever team I believe that's possible with, I'm happy to take the step with them"
