We all knew the @Mets sell off was coming. But as it happens in real time, it is painfully obvious what a complete and total loser David Stearns is. He is an utter failure and his arrogance amplifies how cancerous this Mets front office is. Peterson leaves and thrives. The same will happen with Freddy. The problem is Stearns and his obsession with analytics over intangibles. Said well by Bobby Ojeda yesterday, this is on Stearns and as a Mets fan, I’m sick of it. He needs to be replaced bc he is a terrible executive. The 1986 reunion shows us just how long it’s been and this sell off shows us how far we are. Being a Mets fan is always tough but with Stearns at the helm, it’s a spit in the face of a loyal, passionate fan base. Do something @StevenACohen2

Went to Citi Field tonight. Easily 70% Dodgers fans. Loud ovations for Ohtani, Freeman, Betts & their champions all game. Soto left with an injury. Home fans have stopped singing along to “My Girl.” Dodgers won, as expected.

And yet… I wasn’t bothered at all. Food was good. Fireworks were cool. Wife & I had a fun night out with my sister-in-law. Took her & her boyfriend around the stadium for a tour/Mets history lesson.

Five years post-Wilpon & this is where we are. Most if not all general baseball watching enjoyment completely drained from its fanbase. No anger. No embarrassment that your building was taken over. Just pure & genuine apathy knowing this is what they are and the person who put them together isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I think tonight is truly emblematic of the David Stearns NY Mets.

1. Senga as a bulk reliever on 3 days rest when he needs 5 days between starts and still sucks

2. Austin Warren left out there to blow it up for 6 consecutive batters

3. A journeyman nobody minor leaguers coming in for leverage

4. Score is 11 runs.

5. Gives up 16 runs.

The team is by far the worst @Mets team in my lifetime. (I’m 48 years old) and it is entirely and completely attributable to David Stearns. He is the architect of this laughing stock mess and not only is it maddening as a fan, but it is so unprofessional judging as an executive. He has pissed away Steve Cohens money with no recourse. And his job is safe which makes cohen very questionable as an owner.

This is just the most frustrating and demoralizing season.
