@UberNick One of the main talks in the community is that Halo is such a versatile franchise that you can do horror survival, ground militaristic games, RTS, etc. This would be that. I don't understand people wanting spin offs and variety in Halo yet refuse to even explore Battle Royales

Yes, controls feel very dated. AI and fun factor were solved 25 years ago though.
