obsessed with the implication that tom's closest approximation of faith is faith in his own exceptionalism. his most fundamental assumption seems to be that nothing about him could ever be incidental, which is awfully close to believing he was chosen, isn't it?
@7085seeker i also like that for all of voldemort's efforts to transcend humanity, he's still governed by some embarrassingly human fixations. harry was able to track down his horcruxes in large part because of how sentimental he was about where he hid them
@_cealesti though i'm a little stuck on sirius' role in all this. assuming he's died in their world too, does he exist as a sort of emotional tether for the others? someone who reminds them of the world they're trying to save?
I'm so starved for a golden trio fic that puts them in a genuinely morally compromising situation. they love each other deeply, that's a given, but how far does that love actually extend? when do they draw the line?
@_cealesti wait i'm actually so gagged by this ๐ญ from a writer's perspective it sounds horrendously complicated, but as a reader? inject it directly into my bloodstream. the political angle alone is insanely compelling and I genuinely hope you'll pick it back up 'cause wow
@_cealesti I'm intrigued by dron for the sole reason that I find their inter-familial drama very entertaining so them as in-laws is feeding my soul. this is scratching every itch
@deardoeface yeah I hate when any ship gets broadly labeled as fetish-adjacent because itโs such a slippery slope โน๏ธ especially when the ship happens to be queer
@7085seeker PLEASE DOO It's one of my favorite aspects of his character as well because of how neatly it intersects with so many of his deeper complexes (his fear of death, his distrust of unconditional love, his desire for self-origination, his refusal to feel remorse, all of it)
@eternallysmol oh yes ๐ I think my mind glossed over it because of how lightly the films handled it but there's so much that could be done with it. harry would hate having his autonomy undermined & would feel it was his responsibility to see it through so, but would they let him?
sometimes i think about that scene when hagrid carries harryโs body to hogwarts and everyone thinks heโs dead and mcgonagall screams and harry describes it as a sound he never thought could come out of professor mcgonagallโs mouth. she loved that boy so much
@7085seeker heavy on tom's complicated relationship with religion. I'm very taken by the idea of a tom who briefly (albeit reluctantly) entertains the possibility of a benevolent higher power only to grow increasingly disillusioned by the apparent lack of intervention
anyway. If anyone has a fic recommendation of this nature, please send it my way ๐ I am deeply interested in the conditions under which the golden trio ceases to be golden
I have so many half-baked thoughts on the matter... like, as much as I adore how complementary they are as a group I'm also desperate to see them pushed into a situation where their values stop naturally aligning with one another & difficult choices have to be made
