“Next week, billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians will gather at a convention in Dallas to clink champagne glasses and toast their own corruption. They’re paying $20,000 for entry to a Billionaire Ball celebrating corrupt tariffs, billionaire tax breaks, and a new forever war that are all driving grocery costs through the roof,” the Democratic Senate candidate told POLITICO.

“We’ll be doing something different. We’re bringing Republicans, Democrats, and Independents together to collect groceries for our neighbors who have been screwed over by corrupt politicians," he added.

Talarico's food drive will be called "Love Thy Neighbor," a nod to his devout Christian faith and will unfold across the entire state. In addition to helping struggling families, the drive is a masterclass in political messaging because it highlights the insanely inflated cost of groceries caused by Trump's disastrous policies.

His campaign plans to "mobilize volunteers to collect, sort, and donate groceries for middle class Texans struggling with the high price of groceries" and the drive will run from September 6 to September 9, coinciding with the start of Republican convention.

“Texans across the political spectrum will come together to build community, show up for their neighbors, and take power back for working people,” Talarico's campaign stated.

We applaud this idea! The MAGA convention is nothing more than a desperate attempt to gin up some positive press for a party that's underwater in popularity. Thanks to Trump's failed Iran War, the worsening affordability crisis, and the ongoing Epstein coverup, the entire Republican brand is radioactive right now. Rather than implementing changes to actually help constituents though, they're throwing a big party for themselves and their corrupt donors. As usual, right-wing politicians are utterly tone deaf.
