Kurt cobain killed Courtney Love, then transitioned and took over her identity. In addition to being congruent with historical data (Kurt cobain trans), this also explains the epistemological break in Hole, in that not the first two but the latter two albums were written by Kurt
I did not know that Eugene Levy was defense minister of South Korea. You would think his son would have gone into politics rather than dragging his father on screen
@PippengerHarlo I had a friend in 2016 who had a couple hundred tumblr followers and posted "I want to k*** Donald Trump" and she had Secret Service guys knock on her door
@JennyENicholson Having had bed bugs twice in my home, I completely sympathize, it’s terrifying. People talk up home remedies, but aside from heat treatment (at least 90 minutes in a very hot dryer), the only scientifically proven method is to seal everything in plastic and wait a year
@mamithewitch @SandraSim16@The_TinyDonkey I mean I don’t think it’s just a matter of the size of the platforms, it’s also that commission artists are paid for a product, rather than being paid for their time. My perception is that they’re more comparable to artisans than workers, but I could be swayed by evidence
@mamithewitch @SandraSim16@The_TinyDonkey Because I’m with you that an Uber driver or delivery person is an employee regardless of whatever legal fictions are put in place
@mamithewitch @SandraSim16@The_TinyDonkey Through what platforms? I’m genuinely open to having my mind changed on this if freelance illustration has been proletarianized and I just didn’t know
@mamithewitch @SandraSim16@The_TinyDonkey The answer is that you kind of don’t, precisely because you’re not wage laborers. Freelance artists couldn’t form a union to protect their interests, it would be a trade group, which would still be difficult because of just how small and disparate freelance artists are
@mamithewitch @SandraSim16@The_TinyDonkey You don’t have to have someone working under you in order to be petite bourgeois. I don’t intend the term as a moral condemnation or indicator of privilege (for example, I’m an independent writer and I’m on Medicaid), it’s just indicative of a different relation to production
@wesbraver @Clayyyyyton@The_TinyDonkey The social relations of artisans to the brokers who they sell their products to are different than the social relations of wage workers to the bosses they sell their labor to
@The_TinyDonkey Outside of Film and TV, the organizing implications of AI art are basically nil, since illustrators, graphic designers, and writers are typically petite bourgeois. gAI has much bigger organizing implications for office workers
@The_TinyDonkey People often use “workers” as a plain language substitute for “proletarians”, so I think that’s a pretty natural read for “workers’ movement”. I agree that gAI is generally bad for artists, but when you say “stand in solidarity with them,” what do you mean exactly?
