To those who say "it's her choice" I used to say the same thing about my own Hijab.
I was covered head to toe. Even on the beach. Even with my male relatives. And when people challenged me, I said: this is my choice. You know why? Because the other option was burning in hell, hung by my hair for eternity. That's what they taught me since childhood.
Yes, let me repeat it for you to just understand about our version of “freedom of choice.” I grew up in an Islamist culture that gave me two options. Cover yourself and go to heaven. Or don't cover, and be hanged by your hair and burned in hell.
Like when someone puts a gun to your head and says "you can go left or right", technically, yes, that's a choice.
I picked heaven. I called it freedom. And I believed it, because that's what happens when fear is all you've ever known.
And if you think I shouldn't be telling you my story, I don't care. I really, genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, don't care. The women still living under that "choice"? I care about them.

Went to my grandpa’s twin funeral today and we tried to get my grandpa to go up there to say his last goodbyes. This nigga said “Now why would I want to go look at myself in a casket”
😂😂😂 shit was not supposed to be funny but it is 💀
I discovered my wife has been secretly ranking my meals for the past 11 years, and I found the spreadsheet.
I wasn't snooping. I need to make that clear. She asked me to find a tax document on her laptop. I typed "2024" into the search bar.
A file called "2024 Dinner Ratings" popped up.
I should have closed it. I should have minded my own business. But I'm a weak man with a fragile ego, and my wife has been telling me my cooking is "great" for over a decade.
I clicked.
It was a spreadsheet. Eleven tabs. One for each year of our marriage.
Columns for date, dish name, rating out of 10, and notes.
I scrolled to my most recent entry.
"March 14, 2024. Spaghetti Bolognese. 6.2. Too much oregano again. He never learns."
My heart stopped.
I scrolled further.
"February 28, 2024. Grilled chicken. 5.8. Dry. Had to drown it in sauce. Smiled anyway."
"January 15, 2024. Beef stew. 7.1. Finally figured out the potatoes. Only took nine years."
Nine years. She'd been tracking my potato performance for nine years.
I went back to 2013. The first entry.
"November 3, 2013. Tacos. 4.0. Married him anyway."
I didn't know whether to laugh or file for divorce.
I kept scrolling, completely hypnotized.
Some notes were brutal.
"Overcooked. Told him it was perfect. He looked so happy."
"Asked for the recipe. There is no recipe. He just throws things in a pan."
"This was inedible. I fed it to the dog when he went to the bathroom. The dog also seemed upset."
But then I found others that were oddly sweet.
"December 25, 2018. Prime rib. 8.7. He really tried. I could tell. Almost cried watching him check the thermometer fourteen times."
"June 19, 2020. Burnt pancakes. 3.2. But he made them for my birthday at 6 AM, so emotional score: 10."
She had created a separate column for "emotional score."
My wife had been emotionally grading my food.
I sat there for twenty minutes reading eleven years of culinary surveillance.
The lowest score was a 2.1. Some kind of fish disaster in 2016 that I had apparently blocked from memory.
The highest was a 9.3. Thanksgiving 2021. I remember that one. I brined the turkey for two days.
The note said: "This is the man I married. Finally."
I closed the laptop.
I didn't tell her what I found.
But that night, I made dinner. Lemon garlic salmon. I checked the seasoning four times. I watched the temperature. I plated it like I was on a cooking show.
She took a bite and said, "This is really good."
I said, "Thank you."
Then I added, "What would you rate it?"
She froze.
I held eye contact.
She set down her fork.
"You found the spreadsheet."
"I found the spreadsheet."
We sat in silence for a long moment.
Then she said, "You weren't supposed to see that until you died."
"UNTIL I DIED?"
"I was going to print it out and put it in your casket. A complete record. Something to remember you by."
"That is the most unhinged thing you've ever said."
She shrugged. "It's thorough."
I couldn't argue with that.
Now I cook with the pressure of a man who knows he's being evaluated.
Last week I made risotto.
She took one bite, smiled, and pulled out her phone under the table.
I saw her tap a note.
I didn't ask what she wrote.
Some things are better left unknown.
Re this despicable puberty blockers trial.
“Girls as young as 11, boys as young as 12”
So…not only does this pernicious govt know the difference between boys & girls, they’re quite happy to experiment on them like lab rats…
@TheTVGrump Make it make sense, your can’t get a tattoo until 18 as not mature enough but can take puberty blockers
Guess what one the government benefits from financially
Why can’t an 11 year old drink alcohol, if there mature enough to consent to blockers, there mature enough to drink
Not sure I could love Germaine Greer any more than I do. Everytime I watch this clip 💜💜 her a little more. For all the sex denialists this is the original critique of “gender”. Take note: Women are a sex class.
lIf you do anything today, watch @MaeveHalligan at the Cambridge Union. I genuinely think this was the first time many people in that room were confronted with the hard reality of the trans debate, rather than the slogans that usually surround it.
@BuckAngel was exceptional: calm, articulate, humane. Ultimate respect.
And then there was Helen Webberley. I remember once thinking the criticism directed at her by GC women was excessive, especially the claim she was ‘pure evil’. After hearing her speak, I no longer think that. She is totally insincere. I can deal with hard ideologues- they believe they are telling the truth; they are genuine, @HelenWebberley is different.
One audience member, a trans-identified male and former patient of hers, stood to speak during points of information. His account of how he had been treated was deeply disturbing.
Watch the full debate. It is worth your time.
BREAKING: Full Federal Court decide to abolish the biological definition of women, damages doubled against Sally Grover due to aggravating circumstances, and costs awarded against Grover. Artist's interpretation of decision's delivery. #FederalCourt#SalGrover#GigglevTickle
The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle.
In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal.
The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000.
It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable.
In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex.
Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW.
In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion.
These amendments must be repealed.
The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces.
What a dark and devastating day for Australian women and girls.

This disturbs me. I have no option but to select ‘prefer not to say’ for my sex as a female because I don’t believe selecting this statement is lawful. In my time as a midwife, never did a trans-woman give birth. Because they are men.
Dundee & Angus website - shameful.
