StSauveur_MoonsProject

We're 12th grade students in Saint Sauveur High School, Redon, France. We love space to the moon and back so here's our attempt at naming Jupiter's moons!

Why was Jupiter heartbroken? Because Sinope only wanted a plutonic relationship! #NameJupitersMoons

We are super motivated by your contest. We love space, sciences, astronomy and we're fond of moons, stars and planets, some of us are even passionate about Greek mythology.

Now, here’s our shortlist for the 3 retrograde moons:
Pasiphae : mother of the Minotaur
Melinoe: black and white goddess of the Underworld
Sinope: she managed to reject Zeus (which is no small feat)

Prograde moons (option 3):
Adikia and Eileithyia, respectivey goddesses of injustice and childbirth, an interesting combo of strong women worthy of Jupiter. #NameJupitersMoons

Prograde moons (option 2):
Idaea and Ersa are Zeus’ daughters, have beautiful names and are connected with water which we hope to discover on some of Jupiter’s moons. Idaea is the wife of the river god Skamandros and Ersa is the goddess of dew. #NameJupitersMoons

Eurymedusa & Keroessa as their stories involve animals. Eurymedusa was turned into an ant by Zeus. Keroessa is Zeus’ daughter *and* she was born from Io (then a heifer) who happens to be one of Jupiter’s Galilean moons! #NameJupitersMoons
