One idea I really enjoy is that Democrats have an unbeatable vote rigging operation, but instead of just using it all the time, they sadistically employ it only after briefly giving Republicans hope
@chocockc@lamesaskateclub@francoisfleuret It isn't. Unless you're claiming coca cola can be conscious. Even if consciousness can exist in many mediums - that doesn't mean it exists in all mediums. So positing computers are such a medium at this stage seems unearned.
It is particularly funny because we now know that cultivating our gut biomes is important to health, but drinking raw milk is basically like eating trash. You're rolling the dice very hard. It could be good! But too often it will kill you.
I'm not neurotypical and I find the fear of having non-normate children quite troubling. Raising a child with disabilities is difficult and there are legitimate reasons one one might not be able to do it. However, fear of your child simply having a disability is not one of them.
Oh abortion discourse!
First, abortions are medical care and everyone has a right to medical care. So stopping someone else's abortion is impermissible
That said, people can critique why you use medical care. Having the right to do something does not mean doing it is ethical..
@sleepy_devo Because the laws are written to exclude lots of things that are considered ID in other circumstances. They're not requiring IDs, they're requiring you get documents mostly held by conservative white voters.
If the laws just required any ID they would be fine but they don't.
sorry to put a hateful caricature on your TL but there's something almost profound in a Baudrillardian sense about seeing someone describe an actual photograph as a deluded fiction and a drawing as true reality
@MelsRequiem@RealiaAmelia Since the person narrating this situation only grudgingly admits that the silverware belongs to the accused I think there is a good chance that attempts at compromise were made and rejected.
PICARD: Data, shields up
DATA: Brilliant! Shields can reduce damage we sustain. Not immunity. Not hubris. Just prudence. It's not precaution—it's strategy.
[camera shakes]
WORF: HULL BREACHES ON NINE DECKS
DATA: Here's what happened: you told me to raise shields, and I didn't
@nuhre_ I mean, OwlCat is a private company so we dunno what their budgets are - but they are 50% bigger than Obsidian by headcount and Obsidian has released twice as many games since 2020...so I think there's a good chance OwlCat spends more per game and you have it reversed.
