@SportsWageringT@michaelgrange It bothers me when folks say the raptors “got lucky” in the series - the conversations going into the series was “are the warriors better without Durant” given their performance in the previous series. And when gsw were healthy sans-Durant, the raptors were better, and also hurt.
@SportsWageringT@michaelgrange I won’t argue that the warriors werent incredible, or that the Durant injury didn’t change things, but when they were matched up, the raptors were the better team. Game 1, Kyle and kawhi are hurt, the warriors are not, and they led wire-to-wire.
@SportsWageringT@michaelgrange We can discuss how close they were with Durant, but he was on fire in game 5 and it was a 1-2 possession game. They also lost 2 to the clippers that year with Durant - I don’t think people consider just how different that team was compared to 2017-2018.
@SportsWageringT@michaelgrange Klay missed a game, played the other 4 3/4. They just swept Portland without Durant. You can argue they played but they were really hurt. And the games were either close or the raptors won easily. It wasn’t luck. Without durant, the raptors were better.
@SportsWageringT@michaelgrange I can’t believe we are re-litigating the 2019 championship. Please, I beg of you, go back and look at the series when they were at regular strength. They nearly beat them in game 5, and won almost every Q. Kyle had a broken hand and Kawhi was awful in game 6. OG never played.
@JohnnyGiunta_@ejmb0000000 I think it’s pretty clear these people just watched the postseason. I think it’s fair to say Ernie & Addison will regress from their playoff performance, as they aren’t Ted Williams and Barry Bonds, but both Vlad and Santander should improve, mitigating George’s likely downswing
@JohnnyGiunta_ Those two recent contracts may have restarted negotiations, and if it’s true that the Yankees aren’t negotiating any further, he may be digging his heels in.
@EddiePresti_ Canadian signing bonus tax allows that money to be taxed in the state of residence, meaning Florida. I’m not familiar with US tax law, but that was why Vlad’s contract is so heavily weighted to signing bonus - FL resident, saves tens of millions on taxes. I’d wager the same here.
@_bkuh_ I imagine the real, important number is the AAV used to calculate CBT, as cash flow is unlikely to be a concern for ownership.
That being said, that contract shouldn’t preclude them from improving substantially, especially when they have some good young players under control.
@keithwhipp@_bkuh_@shortguysports@lindsaycwalker1 Yea the injuries thing is key. Having Barger, clement, Schneider on the bench means not missing a step if anyone gets injured. Plus, would be nice after next year to have Santander move into DH after Springer is done and move Barger into left.
