Two soldiers, 1 German, 1 British, buried together. Their story is unknown but the lesson is clear. Nations that have sacrificed much in the past because of divisions; today unite in remembrance and resolve to promote common values and counter those who challenge them.
A burial service took place this week for an unknown British soldier and an unknown German soldier, discovered together in a shell hole during work on the Vrijbosroute cycle path, north of Ieper in Belgium.
Despite extensive and diligent research by our Commemorations Department and the MOD’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre, it was sadly not possible to identify these casualties.
In an incredibly poignant ceremony at our Poelcapelle British Cemetery, the two soldiers were laid to rest in a single coffin.

@MrEdByrne@mondobrewing@Michellesfunny An incredible show framed around an unlikely but profoundly important subject. Sheer genius from this ‘sprightly comic’. So funny, so moving and so close to home. Thank you @MrEdByrne . ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Proportionate, professional, precise.
Due to the threat to innocent lives and global trade, this action was necessary as part of our duty to protect vessels and freedom of navigation.

@edwardstrngr As you say a vital subject Edward - Good luck and remember that ‘every bone in my body’ will be sensitive to how well you unpack the relationship between our national interest and our national industry.

Earlier this week I visited the @RSAF_Saudi fast jet training enterprise at Tabuk. Lots of lessons for UK here in terms of streamlining our approach to flying training.
