Inside the Olney House of Horrors: Did a Recent FBI Raid Just Blow an Intricate 10-Year-Old Philadelphia Cold Case Wide Open?
A bizarre roadside arrest near Independence Hall has led the FBI and Philadelphia detectives straight to a decrepit property in the city's Olney neighborhood—uncovering a chilling cache of chemical vats, weapons, and a handwritten note referencing serial killer Ted Bundy. Now, the family of Amy McHale, a mother who stepped into that very house ten years ago and vanished without a trace, is demanding answers.
The tangled web began unraveling on June 19 when a U.S. Park Ranger overheard a woman shouting, "You're going to hurt me," during a heated argument inside a parked vehicle. When authorities moved in, they arrested 44-year-old Eugene Horsch. He was allegedly carrying a counterfeit DEA badge, a switchblade, and two firearms with obliterated serial numbers.
But the most alarming clue was found on his female companion: she was carrying a fraudulent ID belonging to a completely different woman who vanished from the Kensington area in February 2023. She admitted to police that Horsch gave her the card, sparking immediate fears about the missing woman's fate.
The trail quickly led federal and local tactical teams to raid Horsch's family home. The property was previously owned by his late father, Raymond Charles "R.C." Horsch—a known adult film producer with a history of exploiting vulnerable women battling drug addiction.
For the family of Amy McHale, this raid is the first major break in a decade. Amy’s last known contact was a voicemail sent on June 13, 2016, confirming she was staying at the elder Horsch's residence. She was never seen again. Amy's daughter, Amanda Stofer, has long maintained that her mother didn't just walk away but was instead targeted by dangerous individuals who preyed on her vulnerabilities.
While Eugene Horsch currently faces weapons and fraud charges, major crimes detectives and federal agents are systematically combing through the seized evidence to determine if this "house of horrors" holds the final answers to multiple missing persons cases.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
