The mandatory requirements to becoming an ACA are
1. Successful completion of all levels of the ICAN exams
2. Practical Work Experience: (a) 36 months for Graduate Accountants (b) 48 months for others without an Accounting Graduate degree.
As a result of this, there is no such term as an inexperienced ACA.
If you claim to be an inexperienced ACA, that means you falsified your records in order to get inducted.
It is also one of the many reasons why a supposed ACA will flop at a technical interview because they have no idea of what they are doing.
You are now an ACA but when they ask you to discuss accounting standards, you will pick IAS 2.
Lmao. You are doing yourself.
If you are currently writing ICAN exams, don't take the shortcut. Make sure you get the practical work experience. You will like a confident you in interview sessions talking about the work you have done and how you are the right fit for the organization.

Mistakes Accounting Graduates Make in Their First Few Years
The first years after graduating in accounting are exciting and confusing.
You are learning fast, adjusting to the real world, and trying to prove yourself.
Mistakes are normal. But some patterns show up again and again.
The following are the few patterns or mistakes:
1️⃣ Focusing Only on Technical Skills
Technical knowledge matters, but communication and professionalism accelerate careers just as much.
2️⃣ Being Afraid to Ask Questions
Silence doesn’t make you look smart.
It slows your growth.
3️⃣ Chasing Titles Instead of Skills
Early career success is about capability, not job titles.
4️⃣ Avoiding Feedback
Constructive criticism is uncomfortable and essential.
5️⃣ Staying Too Comfortable
Growth often requires stepping into tasks you don’t feel ready for.
The early years aren’t about perfection.
They’re about building foundations.
Mistakes aren’t career damage.
They’re career training.
Finance folks might be the most hated sector, because they always appear to be disconnected from reality, meanwhile they are just ahead of the curve 😄😄😄😄.
Finance and Economics won’t lie to you, you might not understand, but everything has consequences, and finance and economics would tell you where you are headed.
For over 4 years, I’ve worked as a finance professional, more specifically as a Deals Advisory Consultant and here are the top 5 realities of the job.
This should encourage you and not discourage you.
