As a @ChiPubSchools grad, I know this is bigger than just higher ed. The entire US edu system is culpable and rife with racism & for-profit exploitation.

White, rich students don't have to worry about working 3 jobs or committing to military service to afford a basic human right

The current story around the #studentdebtcrisis blames debt on individuals – as someone whose family has both student & medical debt, I know the shame and isolation that many whose lives are shackled to debt feel.

You aren't alone in debt. Debt is systemic, not personal failure.
