St Mirren supporters will have another opportunity to mark our Premier Sports Cup triumph as the Saints first-team and staff will take part in an open-top bus parade in Paisley on Sunday.
Ghost signs of Glasgow: remember this? It’s a mosaic tiled vestibule on Albion Street of the logo of the former Strathclyde Regional Council which existed from 1975 to 1996 when it was abolished. I love how 1990 has been worked into the tiles thus dating this from the year Glasgow was the European City of Culture! The vestibule is ordinarily concealed behind storm doors so you rarely get to see it.
Happy Christmas to all our supporters, artists, staff and friends. Our lovely new 1931 home is looking splendid and we are warm and happy. See you in the creative new year. Shop open till Tue 23rd Dec at 4pm. @followers

So, just three weeks after my original post, on a quiet Saturday morning a digger was put through the gatehouse to the Victoria Infirmary at Glasgow’s Queen’s Park and within a few hours - by the time I got there - it was reduced to rubble.
I appreciate @WeAreSanctuary were within their rights here as, frustratingly, the gatehouse was neither listed or in a conservation area therefore this is permitted development; however, given that it was a building designed by one of the best mid-Victorian architectural practices in Glasgow - Campbell Douglas and Sellars, who designed the 1888 International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry at the Kelvingrove and what was the St Andrews Hall later the west extension to the Mitchell Library which is one of the finest neoclassical buildings in Europe - perhaps it should have been?
Regardless, when we are in a housing emergency demolishing a house which should have been brought back into use at least a decade ago is not a good look.
Part of what gives ‘The Victoria’ its kerb appeal is the contrast between the new buildings and the surviving historic buildings and the authenticity that lends it.
Sadly, yet again another historic building has been dispatched. It all feels at bit snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and leaves me concerned for the neighbouring Administration building which is at least ‘B’ listed and meant to be retained but is in increasingly poor condition and will no longer have the benefit of rates relief…
We're saddened to hear that Scottish actor and comedian Stanley Baxter has died aged 99.

If we want to create a buzz around the Clyde and get people on its banks enjoying the river as it passes through Glasgow’s city centre we need places to attract them to and where people can hang out.
Therefore, I was pleased that @GlasgowHeritage were able to help Wasps Studios out with funding towards the conservation repair and reuse of the Clyde Street extension to the former Fish Market now The Briggait.
Built in 1903 by City Engineer Alexander Beith Macdonald it has been on the Buildings at Risk Register since 2013 and as recently as 2016 this triple arched gateway to the market halls was proposed for demolition.
Now, thanks to the hard work of a design team led by @Collective_Arch and contractor Clark Contracts, with its beautifully restored iron gates, it could be an office or studio space looking over the Clyde.
The intention is to turn the wee courtyard next door into a south facing open air cafe - exactly the kind of thing Glasgow is missing along the banks of the Clyde!

Though it is ‘A’ listed and on what should be the finest ‘Glasgow Square’ in the city, sadly 15-19 Royal Exchange Square - which was built in 1830 by David Hamilton, the father of architecture in Glasgow - was initially inspected by the Buildings at Risk Register team in 2014 with it being moved to ‘At Risk’ status in 2023.
The first photograph was taken in October 2022 and the second last night. It’s good to see an effort being made to bring the vacant upper floors back into use (if you look through the windows you can see some lovely Adamesque plasterwork) and to tackle the dampness affecting the stonework. The repainting of the shopfronts, though that is only a primer, makes it look a lot more unified.
A hopeful step in the right direction for Glasgow’s city centre as the condition of the south side of the square has been a worry for a while…
