Today, we remember and honor #QuincyJones—an icon, a legend, and a powerful advocate for justice. Quincy’s journey with my father, #MartinLutherKingJr, began in 1955, when they met at Jackie Robinson’s home, before the world fully knew Dr. King’s name and mission. Quincy became a steadfast ally in the fight for justice, lending his voice, talent, and heart to causes that aligned with my father’s Dream.

Quincy had a relationship with my mother, Coretta Scott King, and my brother, Dexter, supporting our family’s work and embodying the values we hold dear. Not only was he a major supporter of my father’s work with Operation Breadbasket, promoting economic empowerment in Black communities, but his commitment to civil rights endured well beyond Dr. King’s passing.

Beyond his activism, Quincy was a musical genius—an icon whose artistry has shaped the soundtrack of generations. With 79 Grammy nominations, his influence is unmatched, and his leadership in global movements like “We Are the World” highlights his deep compassion and commitment to humanity.

In 2010, The King Center awarded Quincy the Salute to Greatness Award, recognizing not only his legacy in music but also his tireless humanitarian efforts. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Quincy, thank you for your genius and your unwavering commitment to making this world a better place. Your legacy will forever inspire us.
