Another way is fusion via plasma. Cold plasma can extract energy in the form of electricity. This is significant compared to nuclear reactors which generate heat to boil water and have the steam spin a turbine.

The future there will be microchips that can use the Casimir effect at tiny scales to generate enough energy so your electronic devices have permanent charge. Batteries not necessary.
