Turkey thought it could back Pakistan during Operation Sindoor and still keep doing business in India quietly on the side.

For years Turkey made open statements against India and faced nothing more than a diplomatic protest in response. Ankara assumed its commercial interests in India would always remain untouched no matter what it said or who it backed politically. That assumption held for a long time.

It does not hold anymore.

India quietly cancelled the security clearance of Celebi, the Turkish aviation giant that had built a significant ground handling business across Indian airports. No prolonged public battle. No drawn-out diplomatic theatre. Just a direct, decisive action that removed a major Turkish commercial foothold inside India almost overnight.

But this was never about one company.

India has started systematically constraining Turkey's strategic environment on multiple fronts simultaneously. Market access inside India is shrinking. At the same time India has rapidly deepened defence and military cooperation with Greece, Armenia and Cyprus, three countries that sit at the centre of Turkey's most sensitive regional rivalries.

Look at a map of the Eastern Mediterranean and the picture becomes obvious. India is not just responding to Turkey's choices. It is building pressure points directly inside Turkey's own backyard.

The message is simple and it applies far beyond this one relationship.

You cannot stand publicly with India's adversaries and expect to profit quietly from India at the same time.

Turkey is now learning that lesson in real time.
