Happy International Women’s Day. Did you know New Zealand is home to some influential female figures? You can commemorate these incredible wāhine (women) such as Hine Te Apārangi (Kupe’s Wife, who pointed out New Zealand to Kupe describing a long white cloud, leading to the naming of Aotearoa), Jean Batten (celebrated globally for her heroic solo flights during the 1930s) and Kate Sheppard (leader of the Women’s Suffrage Movement) by visiting their statues throughout Aotearoa New Zealand ❤️
