Today we wrap up the 3.5 year @NatCapSG project. More than 60 staff and students, and countless academic and government collaborators worked on quantifying the benefits of Singapore's environment. Thanks to @CREATE_NRF for funding, and A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone involved!
Not often that I need to share a music video but this is just beautiful. P!nk, Willow Sage Hart - Cover Me In Sunshine (Official Video) https://t.co/znCZLLdZey via @YouTube
Amazing to see my dear Selwyn Callis being credited in @TaikaWaititi video on un-teaching racism. This news was a miracle for him in his final days - that he had made a difference. Note to self: always thank your teachers https://t.co/8db6rqhdlQ
@TaikaWaititi on un-teaching racism. Thank you! for crediting school teacher and my dear Selwyn Callis. This meant so much to him in his final days, completely and humbly unaware of the positive impact that he had made on so many ❤️ https://t.co/r7qqSiVBTz
That said, I do advise researchers to think about the story - which is not to make up a story - but to take the reader on a journey through each impt step of their research not just the end. Why did you make certain decisions? What were the hurdles? What worked and what failed?
Nature based solutions don’t have to be expensive - it may just be about making the right development or design choices in a city - like leaving a forest patch intact that serves as a sponge for the city.
1 in 4 Cities Can't Afford Climate Crisis Protection Measures, Study:
25% of global cities lack the money to protect themselves against the impacts of climate change, even though >90% are facing serious risks.
43% have no adaptation plans at all.

As well as mental health benefits, @NatCapProject shows that time in nature brings bundles of other benefits like boosting #memory, attention & #creativity as well as social engagement & a sense of meaning in life. Lots to be happy about!
Cut the camping short Sunday thanks to @metoffice forecasts. Still sunny on the Solent but there are sounds of panic lawn mowing around us lol #LoveUKWeather#RainyDay inbound
Congrats @Mahyarm86 ! Would be great to see govt lead public analyses for more town plans in future. Note that such analyses form part of a circular decision-making process and should feed into improved designs. #transparency#SharedGovernance
Another paper out from the @NatCapSG team! Integration of ecosystem services analysis into town planning and design. Congrats @Mahyarm86 @DanRRichards Leon and Beverley. @SEC_ETH
New Paper: Embracing a Global Goal for Nature:
Alongside @jrockstrom & CEOs from dozens of global NGOs & business organisations, we've co-authored a paper on the need to bend the curve on #biodiversity loss for a #NaturePositive world by 2030.

An important paper on the evidence on the violence against and deaths of Environmental defenders. Not easy reading. Thanks @lromancarrasco and @yiwen1987 for stomaching this. I fear such conflicts will only inc in future.
Next up, at 09:30:
Chief, Environmental Economic Accounting at the UN Statistics Division, @AlessandraAlfi3, will deliver the keynote speech for #envecon2021.
Her speech will focus on the UN's landmark integration of natural capital into economic reporting.
Some excellent questions from @MarkJCarney Value(s) is likely to be an impactful book further setting the scene for @NatCapSG work on the relational values of nature. Great to see such topics inc in the mainstream. @lromancarrasco @ClaudiaTan_LY@Yan_yanyun
