I cannot wrap my head around the dating pool in this country. The mindsets are deeply wrong. Self centredness everywhere. Unhealed heartbreak from years ago, unhealed traumas from childhood, unhealed parent wounds that nobody wants to look at. A cycle of toxicity that repeats itself with every new partner. Mind games. Manipulation. People walking around with undiagnosed borderline personality disorders, defensiveness. People whose brains have been poisoned by the algorithm, fed daily doses of outrage and hate.
Then there are some who simply lack basic communication and conversation skills. They cannot hold a meaningful convo. They never ask follow up questions, and expect the other person to carry the entire interaction. They have no depth. No curiosity. No ability to be vulnerable or to truly listen. And when the other person stops trying, they blame them for being "boring" or "dry."
Add to this the influence of capitalism, materialism, classism, and greed. Unrealistic standards are everywhere, everything now has to look Instagrammable for the relationship or date or proposal to be deemed good enough. These standards are not rooted in reality.
Men who grew up without decent, responsible, assertive masculine figures now swallow the teachings of Andrew Tate and every toxic masculinity preacher online. They learn that women are objects, that love is weakness, that control is respect. Women, on the other hand, swallow the same poison from the other side algorithms and influencers who profit from their rage, teaching them that all men are trash, that all men are users, that the only sensible approach is extraction, exploitation and emotional detachment.
The result is heavily transactional. Relationships that are not relationships but subtle prostitution disguised as love. Two wounded people using each other, neither willing to heal, neither willing to be vulnerable, neither willing to trust. And when you add people who cannot even hold a simple conversation, who have no emotional depth, and whose expectations are fuelled by capitalist delusions, the pool becomes not just toxic but utterly bankrupt.
