@Bkitch1Bodie 2024 was record for NW IL, we started spring with full soil moisture profile. Went 6 weeks without rain from mid May thru June. Caught 2 big rains in July. Finished with another 1" in August. Little to no disease. Last year had plenty of moisture, disease took 10 bu. alone
@Chicago_NFL Also, has anyone mentioned yet what this could do for FA signings? You can live in chicago but pay IN state taxes? Makes a big difference to guys making +100mil
Many who go to games will not like it, but the Bears will thrive across the state line. They follow a long line of good businesses out of Illinois, and many more are likely to follow, given the leadership in the Land of Lincoln.
Illinois ranks:
- first in effective property tax rates
- second in state gas taxes
- eighth in average combined state and local sales taxes
I'd rather give the Bears property tax certainty than 2.5 billion to illegals for healthcare.
@RobElgasABC7 Taxes are already going up, every year that JB has been in office, what would the difference be? Illinois would increase its tax revenue base.
@ChrisMWilliams Yes, for Illinois. They couldnt put together a proposal close to what the rest of the NFL is getting. IN and Hammond is, which is 32 whole miles away from their current residence. Not a big move for a massive cost and tax savings. It's good business
@SpeakerWelchIL "We chased business out of our state because we didn't want to give tax breaks to a large employer.". That's all I read here and the reason many companies are leaving the state
@naumandusty The precision planter allows u to do 4x the amount of acres the basic can do because it will do +20-40bu in mediocre conditions vs the guy waiting for ideal. It will also drive 1.3x faster than the basic and do no till 2x better. Minimal difference in ideal conditions i grantu
What a disappointing day. I can’t explain how it feels to live in a city and state with such incompetence top to bottom. Red tape, hands out, corruption. All hallmarks of living in IL. Why can’t we get ahead? Look no further than the 5th floor of City Hall and Springfield. I’d say be careful who you vote for, but it doesn’t seem to matter. People keep voting in the same god dam idiots every election. 😔
It's actually pathetic how inept the IL government is.
They've let property taxes balloon so far out of control and become such a massive part of the state's income that now they can't make anything happen without special interest bills, which are very bad for everyone.
No, the bears shouldn't pay 8% in property taxes on billions of dollars of land and a stadium. They should pay the average of the rest of the NFL teams combined, or something close to that amount. Which is more like 2-3%.
But IL politicians can't do their job. It's not like Warren didn't see this coming from a mile away, but this is not on the Bears, this is 100% on the bullshit IL government.
The Bears were not asking for a DIME of taxpayer money to build their stadium. They asked to not be taxed into oblivion, and for the government to build the roads, sewers, train facilities (on an existing line) and that's it. This is just political blah-blah-blah ass covering.
@dan_bernstein@Ecnerwal23@312SportsChi The state and city pols did as well. Blame Warren all you want but it's a 2-way street. IL pols are corrupt and just want to run biz out of the state due to their extrodinarily high tax policy. Indiana and all other states surrounding us are open for business. Not IL.
