So… I mayyyyyy have finally fallen down the yellowjackets and jackieshauna rabbit hole and also read an amazing a 300k+ word fic by @shipmvns so…. here’s an edit I made with quotes from that aha
Daemon having an arranged marriage is not a typically female experience because women in patriarchal societies were seen as their husband’s property, which was not his case. He was not expected to obey, be faithful or provide heirs, he could live his life outside of his marriage.
btw my take on the "is rhaenicent queerbait" discourse is: are they really advertising anything that isn't true tho? posting about how rhaenicent is the heart of the show & forever tied together is just accurate to what's on screen & confirmed by the writers+cast+directors.
yep! The costuming is heavily influenced by 13th/first half of 14th century fashion, both for silhouettes and fabrics. Hotd, from the customs to set pieces like furniture, is really middle-ages adjacent. Tudors/Borgias costumes would just look out of place!
In this shot especially I think you can see what genius it was to cast them this way. While Rhaenyra's kids are waist-high, and her eldest still seemed juvenile, Alicent looks out of place walking side by side with her grown children, trying to lead them
@marklrsss Ok who asked & also why is her dress neon green & also you’re only including a comparison to s1 dresses in this bs argument when s2 and 3 are much much better
@pndragns Both of these are tweets that were made about the same discussion so no, I’m not moving anything. And also low budget doesn’t make them need to make a neon green dress so it’s not like it was fantastic design either way
What is up with the dresses the queens and princesses are wearing? It looks like absolute crap; if you showed this to someone who doesn't watch *House of the Dragon*, they'd think the Targaryens were poor. They’ve dressed the side characters and background characters better
@pndragns Okay and how is it fair to compare outfits of later seasons of minor nobles for HOTD and then only use s1 costumes for targs? S2 had large improvements which absolutely did give visual identity, but they ofc aren’t mentioned since it doesn’t fit this ‘bad costuming’ narrative
I see it's time for the 69th discourse of the year regarding HotD costumes lmao
People presenting fake as shit Reign or Merlin outfits and going "imagine if HotD characters wore these"
Ew, no, thank you 😭
