@TheStateDept has come a long way since requiring female FSOs to retire if they wanted to marry (a policy ended in the 1970s). Ms. Knobel said that although it the State Dept. has a ways to go, being a female diplomat can prove to be useful in certain cultural situations.

Locally, Dr. Minkoff-Zern studies the practice of urban farming among the local refugee population in Syracuse. Her hypothesis is that it is extremely important for immigrant communities’ overall mental health as they integrate into the US. #SUPD2019
