Lark songs that I hear
quick tempo, high pitched tune
it goes on for a very long time
I look up when I hear their song
but I never see
their wings in the sky
clear blue and
sonorous long voice
forever is
in such a moment
you look up
I look up
to see the musical breeze.

@PetrocTrelawny@BBCRadio3 I’m really enjoying today’s Breakfast! Especially the series of cuckoo related music & the recording!! I’ve heard someone saying that this year’s first cuckoo flower spotted in this country. It’s so very spring! It’s a lovely day for you to say goodbye to the early morning ⏰
@PetrocTrelawny@BBCRadio3 Good morning Petroc and the team, it has been a wonderful opening of the day for many years! Thank you for your great show. I’ll miss your Breakfast but will tune in to In Tune!! As a farewell I attach my favourite flower, cuckoo flower, soon in bloom; as cuckoos appear in the UK
a pretty birdsong
in central London
I saw a shadow of the bird
singing on an aerial
treading on the wet pavement
a moment of little happiness
was lit like a firefly’s light
the murmuring of the town
was ceasing then
and only the bird’s chirping
stayed in my ears.

You spot a mulberry tree
which reminds me of silkworms
that I saw in Japan:
big plump worms, all are
destined to be killed
after their silk thread is taken
it was sad in terms of worms
it was sad in terms of the workwomen
and dead chrysalises—
red berries were sad.

And then I will be dancing
on the green field, wearing
a crown made of plantains
And a few larks sing sonorously
a tune of a merriment
singing and hovering
as though the importance of life
lies in such an ordinary moment
so I will place the crown
on the grass and bow.

Some would say
that it is a weed
I see thistle
as a beautiful plant
Wild plants
pale coloured, or
vivid petals
Getting closer
to many colours
of the field
Some would say
that grass is just grass
you see the grass
as source of various greens.

Well-trimmed yew trees
march at St Mary
magnificent sun creates
their shadows on the paths.
Distortion of lights and shadows
shake my footsteps—
will I be standing here
in ten years time?
Future uncertain
eternity dwells in our love for sure
faint dizziness
I close my eyes.
Banal words that I wrote about her
she may laugh at them
if she were around.
What is it like
to leave this world
crossing the River Styx
to go close to your god?
I pray for my God
and wonder if our prayers
are ever resonated.

smell of the sea-salt
lingered in the air
I did not reveal
what was hidden
among seaweeds
and walked
up and down the path
along the shore
I wished you were there
with me.

@JamesCLewis02 That’s good that you help birds! I love birds and their songs but I’m quite useless in terms of identification. I’d like to learn a little more about them.
